Mini-Review: Troy   Message List

For anybody who has not read Homer's The Illiad, then Troy will come across as a
darn good gladiator movie. But for those who know the real story, Troy will be
to some degree a disappointment. Troy is a very, very loose interpretation of
The Illiad. Director Peterson decided to make the movie as a historical
retelling rather than the mythological tale that it really is. Not having the
Greek gods involved in the film causes the story to lack much of the motivations
and events that involved all these humans who the gods continuously played with.
Brad Pitt was ok as Achilles but Eric Bana was much better as Hector. I liked
this one ok but don't go expecting a modern retelling of The Illiad.
