Fashion doll innovator Robert Tonner, CEO of the TONNER DOLL COMPANY, returns
one of
Hollywood's greatest treasures to her ardent fans! Named one of the top ten
`Greatest
Female Stars of All Time' by the American Film Institute, Joan Crawford is sure
to be
named the Greatest Fashion Doll of All Time by fans and collectors everywhere.
The new Joan Crawford Fashion Doll is accurately sculpted in an amazing likeness
of the
Academy Award® winner herself, in cooperation with her family. "I am very
pleased to
work with The Tonner Doll Company in creating the first ever, authorized Joan
Crawford
doll collection," said Casey LaLonde, grandson of Ms. Crawford. "Joan Crawford
fans and
doll collectors worldwide will be equally delighted with this high quality,
life-like and
collectible doll line. Tonner's attention to detail and features will make this
a much sought
after collection."
The approximately 16" tall starlet is crafted of fine quality vinyl and hard
plastic with 13
points of articulation (neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, bustline, waist, hips,
and knees), so
she can recreate all of her most glamorous poses before the camera. She
features high
end details such hand painted facial features and hand styled, rooted saran
hair.
TONNER'S Joan Crawford collection will hit specialty retail store shelves later
this year.

I'm very excited to announce that the new Joan Crawford doll by Tonner is soon
to be
available. Joan's grandson, Casey, and myself got this project off the ground
and it's been
an enjoyable and rewarding ride. The dolls will be available in August of 2008.
In the
meantime, you can view pictures of the new dolls exclusively at...

Today, May 10th, 2007 marks the 30th anniversary of Joan Crawford's death.
Take a moment to stop today and remember one of Hollywood's greatest stars.

There is a new book out called The Hollywood Book Of Breakups. It includes a chapter about Joan and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. The book is written by one of my favorite Hollywood writers - James Robert Parish. His books are always very gossipy, a little controversial, and impossible to put down ;-)
Received a post card in the mail a few days ago from USPS. It was a response to
my
nomination for the Joan Crawford stamp. They thanked me for my suggestion and
said
they would seriously consider it. It can take up to three years for a stamp to
become a
lickable, stickable reality, but, in time, a Joan Crawford commemorative stamp
may just
happen after all. Here's hoping!

Welcome to the official site of Vintage, the magazine to be sold on the net and Ebay. Vintage covers classic Movies, Stars, Music, Television and Style.
Though I'm finished my journalsim degree, I just can't break into the industry, literally because i have no connections or relation to anyone in the Media. Therefore, i've decided to step out on my own into the
area i simple adore!
I'm in the middle of putting the 1st issue together, which will be a special edition "10" issue.
I need all the member feedback i can get on what you think are:
10 actors actressess epic comedies drama action/western horror/thrillers silent actors/esses
every newcomer to vintage movies should know about. Not only because they are talented actors, or great movies, but maybe because of scandal, a style they made their own, the film was a great dud....
From the start of movies to the 1970's is what i classify as vintage.
My final top ten lists can be found under the "File" section of the group. Please post your own lists in the same section, in the members folder, with your name/id.
Please vote for your fave magazine cover which is located in the photo section of the group- Greta Garbo is winning at the
moment!
Email me personally @ VintageMagazineOnline@... or vivienleighfan4ever@...
Please bear with me as this is a massive job i will do by myself, while also working part time in my "proper" job...sales...Argh!
I will take pictures off the net and out of my own books etc...if you would like to add a pic to the group in consideration in the magazine please do but add your name to it, which i will acknowledge. If i can't find anyone attached to a certain image and publish it- Sorrry!!!
I am not related to any vintage star - i'm a fan just like you, so lets help each other!
So come in, join, and lets discuss, and most importantly- have fun!!!!
*The Beautiful and Ballsy Norma Shearer is in my lists, see her pic above*
A little while ago, when I was gathering the letters for my book, "Joan
Crawford: Her Life In
Letters," I realized that if any movie star deserved to be on a stamp, it was
Joan Crawford.
She kept the post office in business with all that letter writing! This fact,
along with her
fabulous career should be enough for the USPS to commemorate her on a postage
stamp.
This process can take up to three years and it's primarily decided by letters
written by the
public. I've provided the address below. I've also included a copy of my letter
to them. If
you feel that Joan Crawford should be honored on a stamp, please, write a letter
too.
Thanks!

To Whom It May Concern –
My name is Michelle Vogel, I'm an author of Hollywood Biographies, primarily on
classic
Hollywood stars. My latest book, "Joan Crawford: Her Life In Letters" documents
the
prolific letter writing (over a 50 year period) of screen star, Joan Crawford.
So many of Ms.
Crawford's contemporaries have been honored on USPS stamps over the years for
their
acting ability and contribution to world wide cinema, and rightly so; however
Joan
Crawford was more than just an actress, she was a letter writer.
To give you an idea of just how many letters she wrote:
Joan Crawford answered all of her fan mail personally. She would type and mail
up to
5,000 letters per month and during the holiday season (Nov-Dec) she sent close
to 20,000
letters each year, for fifty years! She personally kept the USPS in business and
I think this
fact, along with her amazing achievements in film would make her a worthy
candidate for
a commemorative stamp in her honor.
Please let me know your thoughts. I'd be happy to help with this process in any
way I can.
Sincerely –
Michelle Vogel

This week on Ebay author Michelle Vogel is auctioning off a set of nineteen autographed copies of her best-selling book "Joan Crawford: Her Life In Letters". This book was written with the approval of Joan's family and was recently featured in Liz Smith's column. These books normally sell for $16.95 each (and that is without the autograph). They make great gifts for classic movie fans! Don's miss your chance to bid -
Just to let everyone know, www.rrauction.com will be starting their latest
auction on
October 31st and one of the lots consists of an autographed copy of "Joan
Crawford: Her
Life In Letters" along with FIVE original letters signed by Joan Crawford. Check
it out.
Best wishes -
Michelle
According to the theatre:
We have not confirmed Casey LaLonde yet, he is coming but we haven't
decided which nights he will appear. Stay tuned to our website.
I have run a number of events which depended on invited guests and you
never can tell if people will cancel at the last minute. So I would
not go booking any tickets for this event based on his appearce alone
as yet.
Just a note to let you all know that The Castro Theatre in San Francisco,
California, will be
running a week long event called "The Joan vs Bette Festival." Each evening will
screen a
double feature, one Joan film, one Bette film. The program starts on September
12th.
Joan's grandson, Casey Lalonde, will be attending the Friday and Saturday
evening
screenings. He'll be a guest speaker and he's most eager to lay to rest the many
myths
surrounding "Mommie Dearest."
There will be two midnight screenings toward the end of the week too. "Whatever
Happened To Baby Jane?" and "Mommie Dearest" should draw an interesting crowd
given
the late night screening times.
The Castro Theatre has its own website and it can be found by typing the name of
the
theatre into your search engine. It's only two months away so plan your vacation
time
around this one. It'll be a lot of fun!
Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Contest ends on JULY 11th. Congrats to Michelle on the great write up on the

Hi Martina -
Thanks! - Lots of publicity to do with this book so I've no
solid plans for the next one just yet. Somehow, promoting
a book is more work than writing it!
It's currently being advertised on the Turner Classic Movies
website and I'm hoping to do a cross promotion when they
run their Crawford film week in the spring.
Also the Joan vs Bette festival at The Castro Theatre will
be running a promotion too. The week of films will start
on September 12th. It looks like Joan's grandson, Casey,
will be appearing as a guest speaker at the event too.
Thanks for your interest -
Michelle x
PS: The Castro Theatre is in San Francisco, CA.

I am enjoying this book very much. Looking back on all the other books
I've read on Joan Crawford this book truely captures the real Joan. Her
letters are a facinating way to peak inside what she was thinking and
how she felt. Never before has she been more human in print. The
information added by her grandchildren add a delicious touch.
Soon I will be finished but my appetite for more will continue.

Hi Everyone -
I just heard from a reporter at the GLOBE magazine. The editor there
approved the Joan Crawford story so it'll be in the magazine within a
couple of weeks. Not next week's issue, probably the week after. I
offered ten free signed copies as a reader giveaway so I think that
tipped the scales in my direction too.
I'll be sure to let you all know exactly when the story will appear.
