Well Susan, I don't know if he twins will ever see your question here. I have no real reason to believe either of them has ever joined this group.
I can tell you this from what I've read and heard about them. Their parents wanted them to have separate identities right from birth. They went to different schools, they played with different friends, they hung out in different circles. Jean was called "Jean" from an early age despite her real first name being "Barbara."
This seems to have worked as they went their separate ways right after High school graduation. Jean joined a traveling dance troupe and Liz signed on to study dance at the world famous Dupree Dance Academy here in Los Angeles. Jean ended up in New York after traveling to places like South America and Japan with the troupe.
When they were cast separately in Grease 2 they finally got back together although they split up right after making that movie and again began separate careers. Originally, one of them was cast to star in Double Trouble (I'm not sure which one) where the producers were going to use the ole' split screen idea to simulate twins ala' the Patty Duke show of the 1960's. When they learned their star actually had an identical twin sister who acted too, the show we know as Double Trouble was set.
After it was canceled, it's interesting to note that they again worked separately for many years. Jean mostly in TV and Liz in movies. They got back together again only to do a few episodes of "Picket Fences" in the early '90s. Shortly after that, both twins exited the acting world.
I guess you can say keeping them apart right from birth helped them establish their own separate identities. They don't seem to have counted on one-another to create their own careers. In fact, from everything they've said or I've heard, they seem to prefer NOT to work together if they can possibly help it. They have two separate careers today, Jean as a director and Liz as a script writer.
Hope this answers some of your questions Susan.

Hello folks,I'd love to start a twin topic!I've always wondered how you two beautiful identical gals grew up keeping your individuality? And then becoming famous, how ever did you keep your unique selves ... well ... unique?Hugs, Susan----- Original Message -----From: "sagal_twins" <BTERRY@....com >Sent: Monday, November 13, 2006 7:13 PMSubject: [Jean_lizsagal] Re: Quiet.... too quietPeople seem to want to talk twins, heck, you got 4 replies to your
email in one day, they just don't seem to know what to say.
Somebody start a topic, toss out a question about them or make a
statement and see who responds. It only takes a second to type up
something and hit "Send".
We're all here for a reason after all. Let's hear what you folks have
to say....
