As 'M. Skin' is a contemporary film, 'Anchoress' is quite different in any ways,
but some of the aspects it shares with 'M. Skin' are what made me like it as
much - its 'mystic' and atmospheric qualities, and the images and imagery, and
sense of 'existentialism' that both contrasts with, and compliments, the film's
religious themes.
Being set in the 14th century and in muddy countryside, the film is, quite
appropriately shot, in b/w, but there is one wonderful, startling moment, right
in the middle of the film, where a bright red line of blood drips down the
centre of the screen.
