Dear all,

This is a reminder to make it to the inauguration and screenings of our Let
It BE festival tomorrow (20th) 5.30 pm onwards !

Also, do attend the three afternoon sessions we have lined up for the 21st,
22nd and 23rd. These will be very intensive, face to face sessions, and should
lead to very interesting discussions.

Wednesday, March 21
2.00 pm to 5 pm

SHOOTING DOCUMENTARY

Session hosted by the Cinematographers' Combine
Speakers: R. V. Ramani, Rahul Roy, Sudheer Palsane and others

All the speakers are cinematographers and independent film-makers, who have
worked extensively on documentary, shooting on film, and in recent years,
switching to digital video. They will discuss issues arising out of this switch
- political, aesthetic as well as technical. And also share their thoughts and
experiences relating to independent film in India.

Thursday, March 22
2.30 pm to 5.00 pm

BUILDING AN ALTERNATIVE SCREENING CULTURE

Speakers: Anand Patwardhan (Vikalp, Mumbai), Cyrus (The Short Circuit, Mumbai),
Gaurang (Drishti, Ahmedabad), Amudhan R. P. (Marupakkam, Madurai) Cinema Nova
representative

All the speakers are part of groups that screen films outside the mainstream.
They come from diverse backgrounds - some are political activists, some are
film-makers themselves while others are just film lovers, and cultures. Each
one will speak about the manner in which they function, and the challenges they
face.

Friday, March 24
2.30 pm to 5 pm

INDEPENDENT FILM - THE POLITICS OF FORM

Speakers: Madhusree Dutta, Sanjiv Shah, Gurvinder Singh

For this session we have invited three film-makers to discuss their idea of
political film-making. If films have political themes, do they end up
sacrificing form
for the sake of content? Are we, in India, too caught up in the immediacy of
burning political activism, to pay attention to the fact that cinema is also
art?
What constitutes rebellion, in the Indian context? And, once the film is made,
what is its fate? Who watches it, who gives it prizes? And does that end up
validating one kind of documentary over another?

These off venue sessions will take place at Seijo and the Soul Dish which is
located at :

Seijo and the Soul Dish
2nd Floor
206, Krystal (it has the ICICI Bank on the ground floor)
Waterfield Road
Bandra West
Ph: 26400244
