i agree!!!  i'd be kind of devastated if Ishtar was reappropriated by hollywood in a heavy-handed and lazily ironic way, thus destroying the context for any actual, non-ironic enjoyment of the movie for the uninitiated. 

but meanwhile, i am considering lobbying to have Ishtar screened at one of my local independent movie houses - maybe w/singalong?  anyone know of any places that have screened Ishtar featuring printed lyrics onscreen, like they do for The Sound of Music and Fiddler on the Roof?
