Welcome to the Harvard Independent Film Group Online, a Bulletin Board for the growing number of Harvard Alumni in the Film and Entertainment Business. We post notices here about castings, screenings, events, and industry employment.
The Harvard Independent Film Group formerly met at the Harvard Club and now meets at the Tank in New York. Past guest speakers have included Oliver Stone, Ismail Merchant, Stewart Stern, and Arthur Hiller. Gary Marsh, founder of Breakdown Services, discussed casting in feature films, and Patricia Scott, Mayor's Office of Film & Television, filming in New York.
Recent events have included Peter Biskind and a discussion of his book, Down and Dirty Pictures: Miramax, Sundance, and the Rise of Independent Film. We had Jim Toback screen his Harvard Man and discuss his career at Harvard and beyond and then we had The Outsider about him and its director Nicholas Jarecki.
For more information about our upcoming schedule check out our website www.HarvardFilmGroup.com. The Harvard Film Group is sponsored by Crimson Screen Partners, a financial company whose members attended Harvard. This Bulletin Board is moderated by Barney Oldfield H'79, General Manager of Prophet Pictures.
