I AM sure I shared with you the number of times over the years I dreamed of Cybill SHEPHERD  in the early morning hours of my sleep prior to awakening to find her on the TV screen in some Talk Show Interview.

 

Because of the tinitus, ringing in my ears, I lay down at night with the TV on so I have something to focus on other than the overwhelming ringing...so that I can fall asleep eventually.

 

Specialists call it a "mask" and a "wash".

 

It was not odd to me to Xperience that.

 

The Cybill dreams.

 

Just a trigger. I heard her voice or name or something while I was asleep and it triggered the dream.

 

No big deal.

 

It was a pleasnt dream, one of them, she was in an MG Convertable wearing a Carmen Miranda/Carol Burnett tall fruit covered hat, only there was one difference..she had a full loaf of bread on the side.

 

 

I am sure it happens all the time.

 

After leaving the Center yesterday around 5:15pm...

 

Sam let me stay a couple hours late as he had a funeral to go to at Reegers after that...

 

I went to the library to return some books and videos/films, and check out five  more videos, as I had some new blank tapes.

 

Over Christmas Eve and Day...all alone,

I had nothing to do or nowhere to go as everything was closed...

 

I finally got my two VCRS all hooked up right and working so that I was looking forward to taping some of the video films and starting my own library collection.

 

I had started at the "w"s in the shelves and working my way backwards and finally came across my favorite film of all times..a drama..

We had produced the play when I was fourteen yrs old at Front Street Theatre, but all I could do was work scenery, lights, and usher.

 

It was screened downtown at a local theatre at the same time but I was too young to see it.

 

I never missed a rehersal or performance once we opened at  Front Street.

 

I checked out the video and went straight home and began to tape it.

 

I had the tape on the wrong speed and the tape was used up about five minutes before the ending of the film.

 

So I started it all over, began taping it again...

but laid down and tried to sleep during the taping.

 

I sleep one one of two couches.

 

Use  my bedroom as an offfice/study/libray.

 

I dozed some, a little, but awakened to hear the ending, and at the end, the VCR's shut off, and the cable station came on and I just listened to it.

 

I forget what channel it was on but not a major one.

 

Shortly before I awakened at 5:30am, this morning,

I dreamt of President Ford having died.

 

It was very detainled..but of course from a personal point of view.

 

I remember some of my friends and I being around his house in California in a crowd.

 

I also ended up cutting my right hand and bleeding badly and causing quite a stir amongst my friends.

 

When I did awaken, I figured the dream was triggerd by the fact that Sam had a funeral to go to earlier the night before.

 

I had not heard anything about Ford's Great Escape at all at that point....as I had only umessed with the VCR's.

 

 

Upon awakening....watching the TV that was already on, there was some boring program on and so I began to channel surf, and when I saw President FORD being interviewed on what I thought was JUST a repeat of Larry King on CNN, I laughed at what I thought

to be co-incidence.

 

My TV is poor, old, and white letters on the screen blur.

 

I can't read small titles, billings and the like.

 

I watched the program for a good while, remembering my days at the White House especially the year during Nixon, and the year when FORD was there.

 

Finally there was a commercial...and upon return the

Face of Ford again and the large letters on the screen that WERE visable this time, becuase of thier size...

where the smaller ones earlier were not..

 

they said..and the voice said..

"Remembering President Gerald FORD".

 

It was only then that I realized that

he had escaped this planet of the Oooops.

 

I wasn't shocked...or suprised.

 

I have had so many interestingly weird similar Xperiences that they go with the flow.

 

What did alarm me is this:

Now for the third time that I know of, obviously,

in my early morning sleep in particular...

my dreams have been influenced by something I heard

IN my sleep coming from the nearby TV.

 

Eventhough there was nothing on the cable station about it when I first woke up...there must have been an announcement periodically on that cable station from time to time, in particular in those last early minutes of my sleep, although it was obvious that they were not featuring it as a news item on that station.

 

I am concerned about this happening again.

 

I have only had about five real nightmares in my life that I can detail and speak of today..so my sleep has always been pleasant.

 

I just think that I should refrain from leaving the TV on while I sleep anymore.

 

I plan to use my CD player, play some decent soothing music, put it in the REPEAT MODE so that it goes on over and over all night.

 

Perhaps some classical music.

 

Rochmonanoff...maybe...something pleasant.

 

I just don't like the Idea of ANYTHING that just "happens" to come on the TV to influence or trigger any future early morning dream.

 

Good or Bad.

 

Who knows?

 

I mean...."what's UP, Doc?"

 

Another funny thing....while lying there during the second taping of the film I was taping, I wrote a story in my head , a rewrite of

The First 3 Letters In Funeral Are Fun, 

a funny story about all the funerals I had been to in my life...

 

all of this was triggered by the Fact

that Sam was headed to his Second Funeral in two weeks.

 

It is funny how other's experiences,  can trigger thought, along with anything on the TV trigggering dreams...

 

and how the combination can brought my early Wednesday Morning to a point to where I didn't need that first cup of coffee....to stay awake.

 

All in all...I saved a few coins by the cafieme I didnt need....and less trips to the bathroom this morning,

rgusbeing able to spend that time uninterrupted with you now.

 

Whats next?

 

I do have one interesting story involving myself and President Ford during the one year I composed letters for him to sign while I worked for him through the Coast Guard

position I held.

 

I had to sign papers stating that I would never write and publish the story, and it was that agreement that allowed me to leave and be free of an existing contract two years early.

 

I wrote the story anyway in a local off-campus newspaper at Memphis State University in 1976 or l977.

 

I wrote for the Memphis State Helmsman, and we staff Members also edited and published an off-campus paper where we radicalized stories not allowed in the Helmsmen as far as dictatetd at that time.

 

So, I do not plan to rewrite it, and for whatever it is worth, the story will die with me.
