Hey Gonz,

So VERY sorry I have not got back to you sooner. My
old HP has died on me and it took me a month to
replace it. Went with a old imac G3 ( a bargain at
$150.00) which for the most part, suits my needs
nicely. Love Mac OS X, but I wish I could run a newer
version (namely 3), and along with it, newer versions
of Safari. It also came with Internet Explorer 5 for
Mac, which is colorful, but has trouble loading a lot
of pages. Yours, for instance, loads nicely, but you
can't open any of the links from there. You should
see the colors some of my table borders load in with
it!!

Anyhow, sorry to hear things have been down for you.
Sincerely hope that you are okay and doing better. As
you can probably tell, summers are busy for me, and
unlike in the fall when I am driving, I have to share
on PC at work with about ten other drivers, so time,
needless to say, is rather limited. This combined
with a second job, a two year old, summer home
projects, and more shit on my plate than you can
possibly imagine, has left me almost no time--sorry!!

What spare time I have had has been dedicated to my
family, and catching up on newer SF shows. One of the
big advantages of working for a large public library
is that we have boxed sets of virtually every SF show
you've ever heard of--talk about your great fringe
benefits!!! So I've been working my way through the
first few seasons of Farscape, Babylon 5, Lexx, and
the new Doctor Who (tivoed off Sci Fi channel). They
are all great. Really, REALLY hooked on the new
Doctor Who especially. WOW!! What a great show!!!
Amazingly good. Did you ever follow any of these?

I think you mentioned WAYYY back that you had never
seen Message from Space? Shame on you! Get a copy as
soon as you can. Seriously, it is the best, most over
the top space opera you will ever see. The acting and
dialogue are hilarious and outrageous at times, but
there is so much color and great special FX (for the
70s), you will have an absoloute blast from start to
finish. It's like Starcrash on a HUGE budget, with a
mix of Japanese and American actors. So much fun, it
just has to be seem to be believed.

Anyhow, take care. I will get quicker about
responding to emails, promise. It will be much better
come September, when the school season starts and I am
driving again everday.

You know I look forward to anything you have time for,
updates wise.

Talk to you later, and if you are still down, hang in
there.

Jim

hey humanoids :)

couple of nice extras to the fansite for you...

i managed to track down the rare italian 4-sheet poster, originally
displayed outside cinemas during the films theatrical run. its HUGE,
bigger than my bedroom walls, and makes quite a talking point.

also, finally put up the Lady Agatha Glamour Gallery, some nice sexy
sci fi art of everyones fave space vampire.

to finish for now, an ego-tastic shot of me displaying the original
drew struzan concept art for his Humanoid poster. its a real buzz
for a die hard fan like me to get my hands on an original, and it
makes a nice addition to the site.

all the above is accessible from www.golobthehumanoid.com/updates

few new things are in the pipeline, including a written contribution
from another crew member who recently discovered the site, and more
comissioned fan art.

take care, stay cool and keep lovin the movie..

couple of nice Humanoid related stories this week..

I ve been contacted by Author Stephen Romano who is researching a
book on the making of spaghetti sci fi Starcrash, due to be
published later this year. I ve put him in touch with a couple of
crewmembers who worked on the film and also gifted him some
production art. He shall be acknowledging my contribution in the
book and also name-checking the Humanoid fansite. He is also looking
for contributions from other Starcrash/spaghetti sci fi fans.. check
out www.pachanko.com/starcrash for further details.

Also , i tracked down the original pre production design sketch that
Drew Struzan did for his Humanoid poster. its cost me an arm and a
leg, but I decided on impulse that it was a MUST HAVE purchase, and
shall soon be mine !! it ll look verrry cool on the website. Struzan
is THE name in poster art...he did all the star wars, indy jones,
blade runner posters plus many many more. nuts, to think he started
out doing spaghetti sci fi !!! i also discovered a mega rare Struzan
starcrash sketch, this is online at

you care about these words.

Hi there,

I am SAM, an Iraqi refugee living in Lebanon at the moment; I have spent the
last 10 years of my life as a refugee registered with the UNHCR in Beirut. The
last 4 years, I have spent as an activist for peace and human rights (especially
refugees and asylum seekers) on the Internet; I'm also books author and ebooks
publisher. I have launched many campaigns to improve our situation as refugees
in Lebanon and hopefully bring more understanding to our problems worldwide. I
helped make many changes and improvements at the UNHCR office in Beirut; I used
the Internet as the field for my activities (you can read more about that in my
free ebook 'MY CAMPAIGNS'). All my ebooks are free and could be download from my
sites.

This is my newest campaign, it's about the illegal and humiliating actions of
the UNHCR, who using photos of refugees as banners and human-buttons to collect
money. This is an abuse of the dignity and humanity of the refugees and must
stop immediately and a clear public apology present by The United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees. My friends, I am talking about the pictures you can
see here: http://lebanon.fateback.com/human-buttons.htm

Also you can read my new campaign 'Urgent, we need smile' here:

For more info about UNHCR and life of refugees you can read my free ebooks. I
invite you as fellow humans and members of the world community to support my
campaign by reading my article on my site and see the human-buttons. The
campaign is to support and improve the UNHCR http://www.unhcr.ch especially
after the last scandals in the UN and UNHCR, just for example:

It's an easy on to find. Cheap to. A friend of mine owns an actual print of the film so I've seen it on the bigscreen.

I also got the DVD of Starcrash and it's (I don't believe it!) sequel...

METALSTORM! I'd forgotten about that one! I'll have to track that one down. Is it on DVD?

Thanks!

Hey Humanoids :)

new to the files section of the group, a short transcription from
Richard Kiel's autobiography about his experiences making the
Humanoid. Its a nice couple of pages, and great to hear him describe
it as one of his fondest experiences in the movie business. The book
obviously focuses more on his family life, upbringing, and his more
widely-known movies, Bond , etc, but its a great read for Kiel fans
and Humanoid addicts alike.

Also, quick hello to newest group member Jim, good to have you on
board !

As always, any comments or requests about the movie/website, or other
italian / grade B sci fi films, please let me know !

and finally... Very Merry Christmas and a Happy 2006 !!!

helloo group :)

recent technical problems have delayed the latest planned additions to
the Humanoid site, hopefully all should be sorted soon.

In the meantime, I ve expanded the 'spaghetti sci fi shrine' section
of the site that covers all those other italian classics. the latest
additions are image galleries for the Luigi Cozzi Alien rip-
off 'Contamination' , and 'Starcrash 2 - Escape from Galaxy 3', which
is truly awful soft core disco porn set in space. Also, nice image
gallery from the infamous film "The Beast from Space" , mega rare
movie that has to be seen to be believed !! LOVE it !!!

new Humanoid stuff to follow.

hey humanoids
just received another nice email from star Leonard Mann, including a
cool annecdote about the making of the movie:

" I just received a DVD of the film which I had no idea existed.
From your last e-mail I began to surf around and found a copy with
Japanese subtitles. I watched the film the other night with my wife
and she enjoyed it as I did. I did not remember it being so good.
I thought about a funny story about the making of the film.
When I was signed to do the film the crew was sent over a couple of
weeks before I was scheduled to go. We were first supposed to shoot
in South Africa but at the last minute Israel was chosen due to
production needs. Before leaving for Tel Aviv the Italian producer
called and asked me to carry my costume with me since they had been
late completing it. I, of course agreed. Little did I know. When
I got to customs in Tel Aviv the Israeli producer who was suppose to
meet me was late. When the Israeli customs officers began to open
the boxes I had brought containing my uniform discovering what I
guess they thought was something dangerous. They immediately
summoned security officials who began to interrogate me. They would
not believe I was there to make a movie. They insisted I was up to
something and they wanted me to come clean. It took several hours
before the producer finally showed up. As you can imagine, I was
angry. Looking back on it now it seems funny, but I can assure you
it did not while they were grilling me about my motives for going to
Israel."

nice little story. when i have more time i ll add it to the website
with a few new pictures. other forthcoming updates include fangoria
magazine articles ( i ve got the issue 4 article , thanks Mike, tho
sadly my scanners died ! and im still awaiting issue 2's
feature..) , also more fan art is planned, and the italian release
promo lobby cards. as usual, any comments or contributions are
greatly appreciated.

Hey Humanoids ! been some time since the last post here, hope things
are good with you.

latest news...

Golob actor Richard Kiel has become involved with the site, he'd not
seen the movie himself in years as he only ever had a dodgy vhs copy
that wore out years ago. thanks to the site hes now the proud owner
of a new (bootleg) dvd version, which hes happily showing his
grandkids! hes also written some kind words for the site, and will
hopefully be mailing his own collection of behind the scenes photos
for inclusion soon.

even cooler...richard writes a column for the exclusive up-market
movie magazine Cinema Retro. the editor is a fan of the website ,
and has asked Richard to write a piece on the making of Humanoid.
Hopefully that article should see print sometime next year, and will
be great publicity both for the film and the site.

Armando Valcauda has recently been in touch, the special fx guy who
worked on both Humanoid and Starcrash. Hes sent some very cool
pictures, including a candid shot of barbara bach that has never
been published before. hopefully he too will remain in touch, with
more photos to follow. these are now in an image gallery , together
with rare spacecraft model shots from crewmember paulo zecarra. very
cool, to hear from people who actually worked on the film.

i ve also expanded the site somewhat to include other italian sci-fi
epics, including war of the robots, planet of the vampires, and a
mini site dedicated to starcrash. these are just small basic image
galleries, but are a nice addition to compliment the humanoid stuff.
as well as this, new stuff includes the complete set of mexican
lobby cards, some nice new fan art, and the first fan fiction.
updates planned include magazine articles from Fangoria, the uk
lobby card collection, and possibly a humanoid/starcrash crossover
comic strip...we'll see how things go !

as always, any contributions, comments and suggestions are most
welcome..just let me know ! keep lovin the movie, stay cool

hey humanoids, few more updates to the site for this week..

added an international release image gallery..

small behind the scenes section featuring wonderful shot of kiel in costume discussing a take with the director

updated the cast page - click on each cast members photo for a biography page with info, pix and links. the richard kiel page features a few nice comments he made about the movie in interview with a james bond site. also added a supporting cast members page, although so far i've little info about the actors concerned.

finally, i ve found a nice model shot of the nurek spacecraft coming in to land...wasnt sure where to put it, so its resting nicely at the bottom of the petition page right now (yes, thats a small hint to sign the petition!!! )

As usual, all updates are highlighted at www.geocities.com/Golob_the_Humanoid/updates

Thanks once again for all your support and kind words - Hope all is good with you :)

The Gonz

I ve recently tracked down a copy of the soundtrack album on original
70s vinyl, a real collectors piece!! I'll post pix and more details of
that when it arrives, and also have more Humanoid magazine content
coming soon. Also to follow when I finally sort them are mp3 files of
the soundtrack. Also , hi-res lobby card scans are available on request.

Where in Helios does all this great Humanoid stuff come from?!?
Stay cool guys, keep lovin the movie !
