Can you guys give me that address for the Nil By Mouth site? I didn't
get it and accidentally deleted it before I realized it. Nil By Mouth
is a very powerful film, I watched it about a month ago. I tryed to
copy it, but it had a block on it since it is a new movie. I don't
know when it will be available to buy.

Hi Melanie~
I believe it came out in February but I haven't seen it. There is a link to a
wonderful website about it. One of the people on this list sent it to me.
Would you like it? There are some Gary Oldman sites also if you want I'll
send you the links. What is your favorite Gary Oldman film?
Lizzi
Hey Junkie!
Thanks for the info on Nil By Mouth. I'll check it out. He was on the Today
Show talking about it a while back. I was amazed at his very London accent!
hard to believe he did such a great Transylvanian accent! I also heard he
wasn't going to appear in Thin Red Line... well I guess we'll find out.

Hi everyone!
I'm really excited about this list! I've liked Gary since I saw him in
Dracula. I could never decide which of his roles I like best. He is so
brilliant and different as each character he portrays. I think perhaps
Dracula, A Scarlet Letter and Immortal Beloved are my all time favorites. I
know nothing about his personal life and really don't care too much. I do
know he prepares very intensely for his roles and "gets in to" his characters.
I am curious about a film I heard he directed called Nil By Mouth. Does
anyone know anything about it?
Lizzi
Hey junkie,
Believe it or not I know what you're saying ;). GO totally immerses himself
in his roles so that he's almost unrecognizable & it's not just the hair &
wardrobe; he really captures the essence of his characters. IMHO, alot of
leading men are instantly identifiable, maybe that explains their
popularity. Probably some people have seen GO in movies w/o even realizing
it was the same actor.

hey, what you said about thinking GO was American untill the
interview------isn't that one of the things that just makes him great?
I think so much of his appeal lies in the way you can watch one
movie and then another and (without it being pointed out) not notice
that both were GO. that's one thing i was amazed at when i first
"caught on" to him...i went through his filmography and saw all these
movies i loved, but hadn't noticed him in (i.e. Dracula)--he has this
ability to not let his own presence overshadow the character
ok, i'd better stop typing now, cus i'm really not making sense

Hi Jackie Chan & everbody,
I just wanted to let everyone know that you can now get Meantime at
Blockbuster. Gary looks so young - I think it came out in the early '80's &
you won't even recognize Tim Roth.
I first noticed GO in JFK & was amazed how much he seemed like LHO. I
thought he was American for the longest time until I saw him in an interview
being introduced as the British actor GO.
Hey everone~~
first i just want to welcome all the new members, we look forward to
hearing from you.

that Zorg makes as he walks? Is it just me, or does it switch feet in
that scene where he walking to his factory (you know, the one where he
fires a million cab drivers?) just wonderin cus it bugs me every
time i watch it....ok, nuff for now,

Hi, I just wanted to say hello to everyone, I just joined the list.
The first I remember of noticeing Gary was when I went to see Sid and
Nancy opening night in the theatre when I was in high school. Since
then I've just kept getting more and more into him. I didn't really
get obsessed until this past year, and there's still a few of his
movies I haven't seen, but I'm working on it. I haven't seen Meantime,
but I just found out that they're rereleasing it, so I'm looking
forward to that. Other than that I don't know what else to say. Oh
yeah, I'm looking for copies of magazines with Gary if anyone has any
extras. Talk to you soon,Naomi

I loooovveeeddd Sid & Nancy---not really sure why, since it's really
not that exciting and "Nancy's" voice annoys me more each time i watch
it.....but ever since the first time i saw it, i haven't been able to
get that movie out of my head! I just yesterday saw Track
29---what a strange little movie...
it's hard to pick a favorite, but as far as appearences, i think he
was pretty good lookin in Air Force One, though he was adorable in the
shy little boy type way in the Scarlet Letter.

Yea, Immortal Beloved was good, and I really loved him in Dracula, and
even though I thought the movie was really!! bad, I thought he looked
his best in The Scarlett Letter.

Immortal Beloved is my fave GO movie. I love the scene where he plays
Moonlight Sonata. I liked S&N too. It's hard to imagine the same person
could play such different musicians - Sid Vicious & Beethoven & make
them so
believable. Recently I saw the amazing NBM & recommend it.

I'd like to hear from anyone who's seen Sid and Nancy, and what they
thought of Gary in it. Also, what's everyone's favorite movie that he's
been in?
Jackie
Hey all,
sorry there's not much traffic on this list...feel free to write
whenever, about whatever...often the most pointless of ramblings lead
to great conversations.
Finally saw Lost in Space and Quest this weekend...good
movies...hearing Oldman sing was a treat, especially since his song
was cool--not your tradtional kid's cartoon villian type.
i found a really good mailing list---it comes in digest form (the last
one i got was 4 emails longs) but it's got some really good stuff. If
you want to get on, send a letter to
kmcafee@...
and put Gary Oldman mailing list in the subject line.
So long all, let me know what's goin with everyone.

something about you?---fave movie, etc...

Ok, for some strange reason i set myself up with a question that i
can't answer. My favorite Oldman movie...hmmm they're all so good in
their own little ways. I loved his scenes in The Professional, though
I didn't think the movie as a whole was that great. I think his role
in Prick Up Your Ears was one of the guttsiest ones I've seen...and I
could go on and on...but I think the one movie that's stuck in my head
the most is Sid & Nancy. I'm not sure why, really. It might just be
how sad the whole thing was that got to me (**if you feel like cryin
go check out the poem Sid wrote before he killed himself**). Anyway,
if i had to pick one, that would be my favorite.

"Never trust a junkie."
=) hmm... my favorite is probaly The Professional.. I love it! he is so
good! Have you ever seen him play anything other then a bad guy thiough? Not
that I mind... I always like the mean people in movies! Especially when it
is Gary!
=) Em *Who will some time in her life star in a movie opposite Gary Oldman*
Ok, here's how it happened for me~~~~
my friend and i watched this movie called the 5th element and thought
wow! what a great movie! then we watched it again...and again and
again...eventually we started taking a liking to Zorg (i mean, come
on---this guy who is dealing the forces of ultimate evil also has a
cute little fake cactus that pops out of his desk). At the same time
as we started noticing him, we saw this name in the opening
credits...Gary Oldman. We knew we'd heard that name before, but
couldn't figure out who it was (for awhile we thought it was
Cornelius). Finally we stopped being stupid, looked at the closing
credits, and lo and behold this Gary Oldman guy played our favorite
character. And you can probably guess the rest...we checked him out
on the internet and found out what other movies he's been in (that was
HIM???? I can't believe it!!) and have been completely enthralled by
him ever since. I spent most of my summer weekends and my money just
renting and buying his movies---and each time I see one i'm just
amazed. I just don't understand how anyone can be so good!!!!
Alrighty, thanks for listening (my familly and non-fan friends are
really getting sick of that story).
~~jess
So tell me, what's your favorite movie of his?
