Have seen a few 16MB cached devices out there, don't remember the specifics. some might've been 2.5" drives for laptops. I wonder which is more advantageous...
Hi Mik, I always thought that 3.6 mB/s was the same as 25mb/s. That is, megaBytes to megabits. That's why DV is known as DV25 (as opposed to DV50 or DV100)....
Mik, Okay, I think I just answered my own question. Indeed, it would appear that we are talking about megaBytes when discussing the minimum for a hard drive....
Since this is being discussed on the list, I hope this kind of posting is OK. I have one of the JVC BR-DV600U decks for sale at a special FCP-L price ;>)) ...

An earlier poster had asked about the DSR-11. Addenda makes RS-232 or RS-422 to Control-L (LANC) adapters for serial control of the DSR-11 (and any other Sony...
... That's a waste of time and money IMHO. You'll be bogged down by your native bus speed AFAIK. And don't dump that 800mhz PowerBook. I've owned 4 PowerBooks...
... OH! (ahem) THAT'S the one I meant. ;-) Actually, Bill, the 800 and the 1ghz were close, but I think my particular 800 was better... probably because it was...
Hi y'all, While it is perfectly fair and appropriate to slam Pinnacle for a whole host of industry blunders, I've been dealing with their tech support a lot...

... The problem is that if Final Cut Pro is telling the player to digitize from 1:00:01;00, for example, and it starts at 1:00:01;01, what will the clip in the...
... Kerry: I'm confused. You can digitize with burned TC on an Avid (or anything else) and the time code **is** embedded within the mediafile. What's the...
Greg, You missed my point. It may be only a frame here or there, but it is HUGE, especially for lip-sync. I agree completely. That is why I offline with...

My 2 cents. No system is foolproof. I've seen weird inconsistent drifts in batch recaptures on Avids. I've seen variations in the way decks read linear...

... Maybe I've been lucky, but I've never experienced any slippage on any Avid using RS-422 providing the source tapes were properly formatted and recorded....
I'm with Greg. Over a decade on RS-422 Avids I have noticed no slippage ever. So far the same holds true with my AJA Io, but I do very few batch captures on...
I realize that this thread is almost a month old, however, I was just re-reading your post and thought I'd elaborate. Although I didn't mention it in my...
