Dear Group,
This is Rachel Kadushin. I'm a new member, producing an independent action-drama feature film project with black, heroic leads called The Last Bar .
I am simultaneously working on some financing leads and development/seed leads for my project, while doing as much of the pre-production research that I can at this stage. I have a business plan, income assumptions, and a detailed budget in addition to a few actors and directors with fan followings who have given me letters of interest.
Someone just suggested that I check out this http://www.indiegogo.com/about/howitworks - and I was wondering if anyone on the group had used it or had heard about the legalities of asking for funds via this site.
While I might be able to get some of my actors and LOI directors to give me the okay to use their names in this semi-public forum, I don't want to ask them unless this is a "legal" way to get development or budgetary money.
Please discuss indiegogo in this thread, but do write to me if you'd like to know more about my feature film project. I hope to start shooting in this calendar year and/or early 2009, so I can try for the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2009. Locations are currently set to be primarily in the greater Philadelphia area (substituting for a variety of urban locations in other cities) and St. Augustine FL (substituting for a "central american" group of locations).
While I directed and produced a staged reading series of part of this script in 2001, I do not plan to direct.
Thank you.
