Bulldog Productions, Yale's independent film production company, is seeking
short scripts to produce in all genres for its Bi-Annual Short Screenplay
Competition.
Founded in 2003, Bulldog Productions already has three professionally shot films
under its belt, including two shot on Super 16mm (for more information and
viewing of trailers visit our website). Additionally, Bulldog Productions has
recently expanded into 35mm film with Midnight Sun, produced in December 2005.
Each semester, BP calls for scripts from writers looking to have their
screenplays produced at Yale on a professional level.
SELECTION PROCESS:
Screenplays for Bulldog Productions Bi-Annual Short Screenplay competition are
accepted twice a year during the Spring and Fall academic terms.
SPRING TERM DEADLINES:
Regular Deadline: February 1st, 2006
Regular Deadline Entry Fee: $25
Late Deadline: February 15th, 2006
Late Deadline Entry Fee: $35
Three to five finalists will be posted on our website in May 2006 and notified
via email only (unless email is not available). The winner will be produced in
the Fall of 2006.

MISSION & OBJECTIVE:
The screenwriting contest is designed to give undiscovered scriptwriters
exposure and a chance to have their work produced on a professional level.
Towards this goal, the 1st place script will be produced by Bulldog Productions
the semester following the Fall and Spring deadlines. The finalists' scripts
will be workshopped and receive staged readings at Bulldog Productions? Close-Up
Film Conference, the daylong filmmaking and screenwriting workshop to be held
January 2007.
Scripts will be judged by a jury of distinguished panel of industry
professionals, educators, and film enthusiasts. Screenplays are evaluated based
on the following criteria: story, dialogue, character, and structure.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
* Screenplays must be standard U.S. Screenplay Format of thirty or fewer pages.
* Screenplays must be the original work of the applicant.
* If selected as a finalist, screenwriter agrees to allow staged reading of
screenplay at the 2007 Bulldog Productions Close-Up Film Conference.
* It is suggested that the screenplay be copyrighted or WGA registered.
* Screenplays must be written in English.
* Screenplay must be completed and received by entry deadline.
SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:
* Each screenplay must have a title page with the TITLE ONLY; the applicant's
name should not appear anywhere on the screenplay to maintain anonymity during
the judging.
* Entry must include a completed and signed two-page application (found on our
website); keep a copy of the application for reference.
* There is no limit to the number of entries per entrant, provided separate
applications accompany each entry.
* Both an electronic and hard-copy of the screenplay should be submitted to the
addresses provided below along with the two-page application form.
