"Creative City Café" has just recently opened its doors at 7310 Santa Monica
Boulevard in West Hollywood. Writers in the Los Angeles area now have a new way
to land work, thanks to a novel idea that the owner hopes will make a big
difference in the lives of local writers.
Says Douglas Stoutenburg, the driving force behind Creative City Café: "Some of
the most
important pieces of literary work, as well as screenplays for blockbuster
movies, have been conceived and written in cafés, but cafés don't cater to
writers. We plan to change all that . . ."
The staff will be made up of writers. The main focus will not be on sales of
food, but on helping writers land work. By teaming up with companies including
The Writer's Store in Westwood, Creative City Café plans to create the biggest
resource library for writers anywhere. And the café will offer free WiFi
Internet access.
"We'd like to be the main focal point in Los Angeles for any writer looking for
information or work," Stoutenburg said.
