Best known for her portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet in the BBC's 1995 Pride and Prejudice mini-series opposite Colin Firth. Since, she has performed in a number of plays and films, winning a Tony as Annie in the 2000 revival of The Real Thing. Recent projects include The Philadelphia Story at the Old Vic theatre from May to September 2005, Alpha Male and The River King. Road to the Sky (aka Keral or Kerala), filmed in India, is due to be released internationally in about mid-2006.

The latest: she is playing Lady Macbeth opposite Liev Schreiber from June 14 - July 9 2006 for Shakespeare in the Park. She's also in two high-profile films, Michael Clayton starring George Clooney (in post-prod) and Pride and Glory starring Edward Norton and Colin Farrell. From autumn 2006 she will be in Tom Stoppard's The Coast of Utopia trilogy for the Lincoln Centre.
