Description
Welcome to 20,000 LEAGUES, dedicated to Walt Disney's 1954 classic rendition of Jules Verne's novel: 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. Here you will find OVER 600 PHOTOS on all aspects pertaining to 20,000 Leagues. I am Larry Brooks, your host, moderator and tour guide. My background is much more than a film fan. I have been collecting memorabilia and writing articles about this film since 1963. That was the year that my brother and I first met Tom Scherman, famous for his devotion to the film. We became close friends and shared a great deal of information over the years.
In 1986, I played a major part in the 20,000 Leagues Production Team Reunion, bringing together the surviving LEAGUES crew people for a special screening held at the studio. And because of my knowledge of the making of the film, I was asked to be the historical consultant on the 20,000 LEAGUES Special Edition DVD. More recently, I wrote a 3-part 33-page series for FILMFAX Magazine (appearing in issues No. 111 July/Sept 2006, No. 112 Oct/Dec 2006, and No. 113 Jan/March 2007).
This site showcases a HUGE collection of photographs in the PHOTO ALBUM SECTION - you'll see things here that are NO WHERE ELSE ON THE INTERNET. We have the WORLD'S LARGEST COLLECTION OF INTERNATIONAL 20,000 LEAGUES MOVIE POSTERS (over 70) and the LARGEST COLLECTION OF LEAGUES TOYS, TIE-IN BOOKS AND INTERNATIONAL PRESKITS. We also have an amazing behind-the-scenes picture album, an album containing 37 striking images of the original 1955 Disneyland Exhibit (with Exclusive color photos of the giant squid). Plus an album on the Nautilus Interior Movie Sets. Check out the extensive LINKS SECTION to find out where to buy a Nautilus model (and other Leagues toys), or view a letter written by Harper Goff (Leagues Art Director), or visit the website of a German hotel whose design is based on Verne's 20,000 Leagues. You'll have a great time here, at Disney's 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA.
