"MAY THE FAN FILM BE WITH YOU
Monday, August 22, 7:00 - 8:30PM
Bellmore Public Library
2288 Bedford Avenue, Bellmore, NY * 516-785-2990

It's the fourth (and likely final) presentation of 'May The Fan
Film
Be With You,' which will discuss and screen some of the best Star
Wars fan films ever made. Lecturer Clive Young will present these
unusual, underground films, which range from comedy to drama, and
are often just as impressive as the original Star Wars films. Most
people have only seen fan films on the internet, but this program
presents them the way they were meant to be seen--in full-quality on
a big screen. Films to be shown include: Hardware Wars; Troops;
Slient But Deadly 2; George Lucas In Love; Crimson Uprising;
Funk'd
Jedi Style; Geek Wars; Darth Takes A Holiday and many more.

Besides showing movies, the program will discuss the history of the
growing fan film movement and explore what compels filmmakers to
invest so much effort into their personal visions of the Star Wars
mythology. All material screened will be appropriate for the whole
family, but the discussion will be aimed primarily at adults and
young adults. The program is expected to run about 90 minutes.

Host: Clive Young has been interviewed by the Los Angeles Times and
Long Island Voice on fan film culture, having run 'Mos Eisley
Multiplex,' the first website devoted to Star Wars fan films, from
1998-2000. During that time, USA Today named it a 'Hot Site of the
Day.' He is the author of Crank It Up [Backbeat Books, 2004], which
interviews 75 of the world's greatest rock concert roadies, and
additionally has written for MTV, American Songwriter and many other
publications. More information on Young (and the fan film program)
can be found at his website, www.cliveco.com.

Directions:
The library is 1 1/2 block south of Sunrise Highway in Bellmore,
half a mile east of the Wantagh Parkway. Drivers coming from north
of Sunrise should take the Southern State Parkway to the Wantagh
Parkway, taking Exit 27S going South towards Jones Beach. Drive
about 2 miles, and take Exit W5W for Sunrise Highway/NY-27, going
West. Go for half a mile, then make a left on to Bedford Avenue.

For further program information or better directions, contact the
Bellmore Public Library at 516-785-2990 or visit its website at
www.bellmorelibrary.org."

As always DB 516 will be present at this event. It is open to
everyone to attend. The previous presentations of "May The Fan Film
Be With You" were interesting and I'm sure this one will be just as
good, if not better. Feel free to stop by and say hello!
