Hi Einon
What I was previously describing for DC roleplay opportunities was a full
scale simulation, but you or anyone else could do things on a much smaller level
relatively easily. For example: You could still build DC avatars in one of the
public sandboxes or other buildable areas for a pocket change investment in L$
upload fees. You could use publicly available, often open source tools to make
the DC avatar and accessory builds. Then because you get to keep the
intellectual property rights to your creations, you also get to sell them to
others in the in world economy. You can sell your stuff in a yardsale or rented
mall stall. The sales funds you can then use to rent a mainland sim to build and
setup your DC sim on a small scale. The L$ can be exchanged back and forth for
real US$. Since you can start this with a basic account which is completely
free, all you really need is the will, time and effort to learn how to use the
building tools offered and then apply them. I myself
don't have the time to learn the skills and apply them to such a involved
personal project, but I cash in and buy things there all the time. If you made
DC items and if you advertised your stuff on their search engine for small fee,
I and others would most likely find them and buy them. Its the kind of thing
that could snowball, if you could generate some interest. So, eventually you
might get enough people into a bigger investment of a full scale simulation and
DC club group in SecondLife. That's how most of the fantasy roleplay groups and
their simulations got started there. If you or anyone else in the group are
interested in trying a go at this, Instant Message my Avatar - Horus Vale - and
I can arrange to meet you in world to give you a little show and tell tour to
discuss the matter. My IMs get dumped to email so I'll get messages sent me,
even when I am offline. Fair warning though, you really need a gaming class
computer and fast internet connection to use the
service properly, otherwise speed lag and crashes will poison your experience,
and mostly likely you will give up in frustration. The learning curve can also
be a bit steep, so some patience and determination is required as well. But if
you can get past those issues, you can literally simulate and roleplay almost
any of your dreams there. Customizing one's brand new avatar in world is usually
the first step after setting up an account. You could start by making a simple
Gelfling avatar from an edited human shape for yourself, if you wanted, and work
forward from there. I might just do that myself. A simple Aughra avatar would be
almost as easy to make the same way. Clothing and hair for those characters is a
bit harder to make but quite do-able or even modable from existing purchasable
items. The other characters would require more complex build methods, but I have
seen much harder fantasy RP avatars created in wonderful detail there.
Good Luck,

Furcadia is the only place of the sort that I have access to, and me being a
pixel artist it is possible for me to try an attempt at a proper DC dream on
furcadia, but I don't know how to use custom patches/avatars/ports on furcadia,
so that kinda messes up the idea I had generally. But yes, I rp two different DC
characters on furcadia - ZokZah and SkekZok.
I have heard of SecondLife actually on a report about it a few months ago, but I
know not much about it. In truth, now you have said that, it sounds like not too
bad an idea to me, and similar to the general idea I initially had with
furcadia.
To not only have the ability to not only just rp, but to have somewhere that
would actually simulate Thra...
