Ghoul afternoon everyone. Hope everyone had a most wicked weekend. We watched
both Love At First Bite And Young Frankenstien.I throughly enjoyed both these
films. Richard Benjamin was great he had me cracking up, And George Harrison was
great as Dracula,so sauve so charming. We found the movie to be really good and
it came right on time,I ordered it from Amazon on Wed and got it on Sat. Talk
about luck. I would give this a B# for allround entertainment and comedic value.
We loved Young Frankenstien,it is hilarious,Mel Brooks at his best and Gene
Wilder what can I say,I am a bonifide fan. I actually noticed something I had
never really spotted before, that was the darts in the wheel. I found the whole
thing to be excellent and the superb. It was a pleasure to watch.I give this one
an A#. Please feel free to share your reviews with me and let me know what you
think.Till We Meet Again:Be Seeing You In YOur Nightmares:Madame Dementia And

I started out with "Saturday the 14th" which seems to get funnier with every
viewing. Then it was "Love At First Bite" with it's "come back black chicken"
and perfectly matched cast. "Young Frankenstein" rounded out the night. What can
you say, it's about as perfect as you can get. Between sight gags and one liners
it's nonstop fun. Werewolf, There wolf. gets me every time.
I picked up today where I left off, by watching "Dracula Dead And Loving It".
The sight gags abound throughout and it does a great job mocking Bram Stokers
Dracula. I finished with Chevy Chase in "Memoirs Of An Invisible Man".

I started my film festival a day early on Friday so was able to get in qute a
few horror comedies including: "Scared Stiff" with Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin,
"Abbott & Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll And Mr Hyde", "Caveman", "Ghostbusters 2",
"Evolution" and finished up with "Young Frankenstein".
This whole month I've been digging through my archives and featuring as many
condeies as I have, beginning with my Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin box set which
includes: "My Friend Irma", "My Friend Irma Goes West", "That's My Boy",
"Jumping Jacks", "Sailor Beware", "The Caddy", "The Stooge" and "Scared Stiff".
I plan to continue with a variety of Jerry Lewis films he made after the
break-up with Dead Martin. I've got all four Abbott and Costello box set
collections, so I'll end up watching most of the 'meet the monsters' films from
the set.
As you can imagine most of the movies in my collection are horror or sci-fi
related, but I do have a quite a few comedies mixed as well - I just don't watch
them as much as the others, so these little monthly themes allow me to dig
through the back shelves and pull out things I tend to overlooked.
Last month I watched Season One and Two of the original "The Outer Limits"
series as well as Season One of "Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea"; and the month
before that I pulled out all my Sherlock Holmes VHS tapes of the Jeremy Brent
BBC series as well as the Basil Rathbone series and a variety of other films
featuring the great consulting detective. I never upgraded the Jeremy Brett or
Basil Rathbone films to DVD so it gave me a chance to give the old VCR a
work-out.
Earlier this year I began by pulling out series like "Dexter", "Carnivale",
"Jerico", "Firefly", and "Dead Like Me".
I think it all started after a steady diet of cable news, and subjecting myself
to nothing but BAD news. I got really burned-out and needed to get away from
reality so thought if I was going to spend time watching the tube I'd use that
time to catch up on goofy old monster movies, 50s' sitautions comedies like "The
Honeymooners", "I Love Lucy" and "Amos and Andy", and big budget escapist
entertainment.
Don't worry Raine, I'm doing other things as well ... I'm just talking abut TV
time. LOL
It's nice to dig through the dusty back shelves every so often to see what
forgotten treasures you might find. I even came across a couple of VHS tapes
with movies recorded that I forgot I had like "The Man From U.N.C.L.E. "The 15
Years Later Affair", and the BBC mini series "Day Of The Triffids".
On the negative side, I also discovered a lot of old movies I taped off TV years
ago that have degraded terribly and are almost unwatchable.
Oh well I've babbled long enough.

I love going outdoors, but due to the terrible weather and the rainy season we
just went through the mosquito situation is totally unbarable. And the threat of
West Nile Virus doesn't make it any better.
It's a damn shame because my wife and I worked hard to turn our backyard into a
cozy secluded hide-a-way complete with a picnic area and table, a swing, and a
nice ornate chimina for evening fires - but we can't use any of it because of
the mosquitoes.
I went out and bought an insect fogger but all that did was make the atmosphere
noxious for humans, and once the fog dissapates the mosquitoes return, madder
than ever.
So we've surrendered.
They can have the outside - I'll stay inside.

There is a garlic based mosquito repellent that is allegedly safe for
humans, animals and the environment.I don't know if your county has deer ticks
but it may be a good idea to check it out.Check with your Department of
Health. You've got birds in Illinois. You could catch the bird flu.A Texas woman
was hit by lightning while standing in her kitchen.Be careful.Look in the sky
when you have to be outside. You never know when a frozen chunk of ice from an
airplane could be on its descent.
JOE,its good to be careful and to take precautions, when necessary.Buy yourself
some insect repellents, netting. If you don't want to walk around in the woods
there must be some places in the city you could go hiking.Walk with a friend or
several."Argue for your limitations and they are yours".

Take a walk in the city! Give me a break!
Raine, I live in Gary Indiana, the Murder Capital of the US.
I didn't live to be 59 years old by hiking through the city.
We have a bike trail that was created to run the length of the state but no one
uses it because people get mugged and killed.
Preservation works best when you don't look at the world through rose colored
glasses but accept reality and use common sense to insure you live to see
another day.
But don't let me dissuade you - you're more than welcome to walk through my
little city.

Rose colored glasses?lol. No one to my recollection has ever accused me of
that.lol.I guess i am more of an optimist but i can see whats left of the forest
from the trees. There is power in numbers, and it is why i suggested you go hiking
with friends. You also mentioned that GARY INDIANNA is the murder capitol of the
World?I just checked out a recent survey and they list CHICAGO ILLINOIS as the
most dangerous place to live with an average of three people being killed each
day.Followed by BALTIMORE,than NEW ORLEANS.GARY INDIANA is rated at #13.Another
study that listed the 25 most dangerous neighborhoods didn't even list GARY in
their survey.CINCINNATTI/Central Parkway and Liberty street is listed as number
one.CHICAGO/State street/Garfield Blvd is listed as number 2.
I also read that in '95 GARY had martial law.I spoke to a soldier once who told
me he felt safer walking in downtown CHECHNYA than downtown L.A.It's dangerous
all over but you have to make a plan.If you have to live your life looking over
your shoulder all of the time with your heart feeling like it's going to beat
our of your chest that is no place to live.
In the wild rabbits have to survive. They know they are high on many predators
lists but they have to go out of their burrows to forage for food. They build
more than one hole so they can escape when they have to escape. It is their part
in self preservation.
I've lived in bad neighborhoods.I slept through a gun fight just outside of my
window one time.i have a friend who started a neighborhood watch program so he
could take his neighborhood back. There were gang fights, muggings, assaults. The
people were reluctant at first until they saw he was serious and was reporting
crimes in his neighborhood and getting results. After about four months other
people started signing up.When the crime in their neighborhood started going
down they had their first neighborhood watch barbeque. They invited everyone in
the neighborhood.
Being a self preservationist doesnt mean you should live your life in a bomb
shelter or in the middle of the woods in a tent like a survivalist. There are
alot of things you can do for yourself and your mily.Take self defense
classes.Take a gun safety class. You do have to be more aware of every place and
thing when you are on the move but you shouldn't feel you have a target on your
back all of the time.
When friends and I take the kids trick-or-treating every year we plan well
before October where the nicest neighborhoods are. There are many neighborhoods
we won't visit anymore because of gsng influx and the rise of overall crime.
When it comes down to it and you are that fearful of the city you live in that
you dont even feel comfortable walking around in it,I'D MOVE!if you cant even go
to a park without the fear of being mugged or assaulted. If you cant go to the
grocery store without thinking it could be your last gallon of milk you ever
buy...ever..If you have to sit on the floor for fear of drive bys in your
neighborhood, than it may be time to move.Rabbits have survived so long because
there weren't waiting foxes at each and every hole. It's okay to be cautious and
aware but if you have to wear a bush as camoflauge for fear of being shot before
you reach your car, move.Or talk to your police department about starting a
neighborhood watch.

Like I said Raine, I've lived in Gary 59 years and I'm still alive, so I must be
doing something right, and since it works I'll stick with it. But thanks for the
suggestions. The good ones I've already used.
The local cemetary is filled with activists who started a citizen's watch group.
They were heros in the community, neighbors said nice things about them as the
Coroner took their bullet-ridden body into the ambulence, the newspaper wrote a
nice tribute to their memory ... but bottom line is they are dead and the
gangbangers responsible are probably still selling dope and living life on the
edge.
It's a vicious cycle and best to avoid at all costs.
If I could move I would have been gone years ago.
But it is great to know Gary moved down the list to #13. I always thoght it was
unfair the way they tabulated the murder rate - per capita - so it seemed like
each time our census showed less people living in Gary they changed the per
capita figure lower so Gary would still be at the top of the rankings. Per
capita means how many people killed in a population of 1000,000 people (or
what-ever number they choose to base their figure on).
Residents have been constantly moving out in droves so the amount of actual
people is decreasing, so mabye we have a population so low that we don't have a
high enough per capita population to make the list.
It always seemed like more people were being killed each night in Chicago or New
Orleans than in Gary. But because of that damned rating system it kept us locked
into the Murder Capital stigma for many many many years.
But if what you say is true and we've dropped down it sure is surprising since
every day the Crime Blotter in our daily newpaper seems to have more and more
violent crimes reported.

We watched both Love At First Bite And Young Frankenstien.I throughly enjoyed
both these films. Richard Benjamin was great he had me cracking up, And George
Harrison was great as Dracula,so sauve so charming. We found the movie to be
really good and it came right on time,I ordered it from Amazon on Wed and got it
on Sat. Talk about luck. I would give this a B# for allround entertainment and
comedic value.

something I had never really spotted before, that was the darts in the wheel. I
found the whole thing to be excellent and the superb. It was a pleasure to
watch.I give this one an A#. Please feel free to share your reviews with me and
let me know what you think.Till We Meet Again:Be Seeing You In YOur

it is fortunate you have been able to live for so long. For me,i wouldn't want to
have to live my life like LES STROUD feeling i may have to travel from tree to
tree and through the sewer system just to get into the city.lol.If I had too,i
would cut my losses and move.Maybe take a few years to raise the capitol from
garage sales and eventually selling the house.Buy a trailer and live in that for
awhile somewhere more serene.lol.
I have friends who have swapped their homes to get our of where they were. One
friend wanted to move to Alaska. He had a nice home and swapped it for a home
that had a rickety foundation. When you walked from one end of the house to the
other it would rock in the direction you were walking. His son is a carpenter and
helped work on it and built some other buildings. They didn't have anything when
they went to Alaska but my friend is a hunter and provided food for the table
until he could find a job.
Another friend swapped his home for another in the Southern part of the State
and hasnt regretted it.If you were in a better place financially I would suggest
visiting Colorado or the Pacific Northwest,Montana, even Idaho. There are some
beautiful States and comfortable citites that won't make you feel you have to
shop in the next town for groceries. Some small towns are so laid back you would
feel like you are in Mayberry North Carolina.lol.

Hi Raine. Us Hoosiers east of 51 (that's Ripley to the uninitiated) don't
recognize a geographic or homicidal difference between Gary and Chicago. (Just
kidding).

Subject: [CreatureFeatures] Was Young Frankenstien, now CITY AT FIRST BITE o/t
I also read that in '95 GARY had martial law.I spoke to a soldier once who
told me he felt safer walking in downtown CHECHNYA than downtown L.A.It's
dangerous all over but you have to make a plan.If you have to live your life
looking over your shoulder all of the time with your heart feeling like it's
going to beat our of your chest that is no place to live.
It's okay to be cautious and
aware but if you have to wear a bush as camoflauge for fear of being shot before
you reach your car, move.Or talk to your police department about starting a
neighborhood watch.

but it may be a good idea to check it out.Check with your Department of

was hit by lightning while standing in her kitchen.Be careful.Look in the sky
when you have to be outside. You never know when a frozen chunk of ice from an
airplane could be on its descent.

I say line ups!!! Wow! I am impressed. We do a lot of movie watching in the
evening. Today we watched Sabertooth,I had prerecorded it earlier. It was pretty
good. We have a lot of Horror and Scifi as well. But we also have a lot of
comidies as well. I am watching comidies as well, it is a nice change of pace.I
think I am going to pull out my VHS copy of Francis In A Haunted House and am
going to watch The Three Stooges In Orbit.
