The ACTING FOR FILM class empowers and educates the actor in a whole new way.
This is not a typical on-camera class. This is an applied acting laboratory, led by TOM BRANGLE
and geared towards specific techniques actors need to discover their own
charisma. In a supportive atmosphere with two HD
cameras, actors explore the art of filmmaking.
Participants must be prepared to dive right in and
create a short film in their first session.
In rotating groups of three, students participate as
writer/director, as dp/cinematographer, and as an
actor. Later sessions include exploration of
self-image, interview exercises, and a final screening
event and after-party. The beginning class is PHASE 1, the second
class is PHASE 2 which advances the exploration into film acting and
filmmaking and covers different techniques for
camera angles, working with film text,
and with a partner. Actors end up recording raw footage which may be used for reels. Class sizes
are kept very small and are taught in a professional screening room. Each phase is 6 weeks and is $360. Both phases done in conjunction is recommended.
