WDEM is producing a TV series called COLUMBUS FILM FACTORY that will show
features and short films from Ohio filmmakers.
CHANNEL 17 switched from being a Home Shopping Network to more of a local arts
channel. The channel is filling a void of local arts and local interests since
no other network in the city is doing anything like that, so I'm 100% behind
that. They are not scheduled to be added to the cable lineups, but with more
original shows and high end content will increase this likelihood and make it
happen sooner. Shadowbox has already added their show to their programming, and
CD101's FRONT STAGE is already their most popular show airing now. This is a
chance to get your work seen to a very wide audience with the new digital
standards and the quality of the presentation, it looks like a very mutually
beneficial situation for filmmakers.
I met with Jason Perkins at WDEM Channel 17 today and got a lot more detail on
their show idea called COLUMBUS FILM FACTORY. It's going to be a weekly 90
minute or 120 minute show. Some weeks it will be a feature film from an Ohio
filmmaker, other weeks with will be a compilation of shorts, or a feature with a
very short short or two with it. Columbus Film Factory is going to have a female
host affiliated with the Ohio Film Bureau and it's looking likely to start
airing at the end of August or early September 2009.
Any short over 10 minutes WILL have commercial breaks added to them at their
discretion as to when or where.
Anything with questionable content (IE language or nudity, etc.) will be first
up to you to try to censor it as a submission, but it will have to be approved
or possibly altered for broadcast to FCC standards by the station too.
Not every movie submitted will be selected. The station will determine which
movies will get played.
Release/Submission Forms are forthcoming in a PDF file tomorrow or Monday, but
feel free to submit now for consideration. Submit your shorts on Mini DV in SP
more, and features too, broken up on 2 tapes also SP mode (no LP mode) to :

also have contact info for some of the folks I met with there. They've asked me
to intro them to the group and would like to use IndieClub as a sort of hub for
some of their upcoming projects.
