Day 1 of the event & most of the photos at:
We got in late to the Day-2 event which started at 12 noon Sunday.
Clare was already planning to leave at 5:00 pm for her flight back to L.A.
On Tuesday she leaves for NYC for the all cast first reading of her LOOSE
ENDS play. She'll be staying again with her sister Callie.
Clare doesn't know how long her NYC stay will be - the play has no new
opening date set yet.
HOW TO LOSE MONEY WITHOUT REALLY TRYING
Clare had gotten them to move her to a less crowded & better lighted side hallway, she told us.
But traffic was almost non-existent at the guest signing tables compared to the crush Saturday.
With Clare queued up often.
So we had to wait for breaks to chat with her.
Not on Sunday.
The reason is obvious, per Clare. See the note on the table. Event promoters decided on
Sunday to add a $10 charge for each candid photo of the guests or with the guests using
their own cameras.
The predictable result, like the post office raising rates and expecting to make more money,
was almost no business. People would start to buy a photo, thinking they could get Clare
(or another guest) to hold their baby for photos - or a photo with Clare. They stared at the
added $10 per charge and walked away from most of the guests shaking their heads.
At all the informal conventions we've been to we have never run into such a candid photo charge.
Clue to ptomoters - it doesn't work at informal conventions with signing guests. People who pay
for a photo expect to be able to use their own cameras also. And had been, as our Day-1 photo
show. Drawing in even more people to buy photos and get guest candids.

We gave Clare a couple of our Day-1 photos we managed to find a way to get printed out.
Including the cut-out one of her holding the baby (see on the table photo).

CATCH-UP WITH CLARE
We had a long discussion about what had happened since Burbank in 10/06.
Clare & Brian's Australia & New Zealand events trips were fabulous. Clare said.
And the Papua, New Guinea week after that was something she'll never forget.
"I almost didn't want to leave," Clare admitted. She & Brian lived in a primitive
hut and went scuba diving. Brian was already certified, but Clare was not.
"I"m now open-water scuba certified, " she said proudly.
Clare had scuba dived on the 2005 Slayer cruise, but was not certified yet.
SAVING THE SERENITY EVENT
She gave her side of the fall 2006 Serenity event salvation story.
After the promoters bailed with people in the air, she said that Sean (of Starfury) called her.
Clare & Brian decided that their oldest Hollywood club (ELEMENT) was too large, & another
(L'SCORPION) too small. So they opened LA CANTINA several blocks east on Hollywod
Blvd several weeks earlier for the Serentity gang to party & try to recoup as much as possible
there.
She remembered the roses they sent her via the club.
"It was me and Brian," Clare reiterated, "not just me."
"True we, said, "but the writeups we saw gave you the credit - in glowing terms."
CLARE'S H3 HUMMER
When we asked about her Toyota 4Runner (see photo from Burbank event)...
Clare said she no longer had it. That she had a HUMMER.
"Little or big," we asked.
"H3 Hummer", Clare said.
We reminded her that when she was driving the 4Runner in July 2005 in L.A., she was
complaining about the price of gas. "Well," Clare said, "it gets the same mileage as
the 4Runner did."
So there...
THOSE TOPLESS PHOTOS
We told Clare how we'd decided to handle her sort-of-topless photos - by
grouping them with Emilie's almost nude 2001 photos, etc. in the 2007 events.
Which we have done.
Clare signed copies of both photos with her own creative, and sometimes
mysterious, dedications. You be the interpreters.She also kept forgetting
and spelled Gloriana as Gloryana or Glorianna - and tore up one such
photo before we stopped her and said it was kinda cute spelled these ways.
Like Glory in the latter case.

GODIVA BINGE
Clare said with a guilty smile that last evening she & the Keathlys (Brian's family in Plano)
had eaten all the rather large box of Godiva chocolates we'd brought her in our Godiva
gift bag (see Day-1 for details) .
She also said that her sister-in-law ("sister"she called her, frequently confusing us
v/s her real sister Callie) ) had a long term illness, not a short-term one.
Clare also pointed out that in popular photo of Glory in the bathtup, the chocolates
her blindfolded minions are holding are also Godiva. She picked up one of the photos
and pointed to the chocolates.
RECIPROCAL COMMUNICATION
Clare was actually enthusiastic about the new means we proposed to give her a way to share
information. She seemed very interested in our Fall 2006 proposal, renewed again, to send
us sort of a "Clare Returns to the NY Stage" series of reports for publication by us online
under her byline.
Clare ran the school newspaper (The TALISMAN) in HS in Delaware, Ohio. And, as weve noted,
continues to write stuff she hopes to perform, as we guess from the guarded way she refers to it.
We'll see, and hope.
Here are the last two poses of Clare before she left a couple of hours later for the Dallas-Fort Worth
(DFW) airport for L.A., then back to NYC. We told all that we'd get Clare to show her high-heeled
boots for us before she left.
Nice balancing act also on that one boot - though we noted she was rocking a bit!
