Director Jeremy Kasten spoke briefly with Fango about his various upcoming projects, one of which was The Thirst. Here's what he had to say: "The Thirst is a brutally honest look at love, addiction and the afterlife-all in the context of vampires. We aren't the first to parallel addiction and vampirism, but I'd say we are the first to be so overt about it.

Our lead characters, Matt Keeslar and Clare Kramer, are in recovery; they're ex-junkies. Also, she is dying of cancer and ends up killing herself-or so we think. He believes he sees her and tracks her to a band of lunatics-The Family-led by Jeremy Sisto and also including Adam Baldwin and Serena Scott Thomas. They're all vampires from no specific time or place-it's like they've forgotten where they originated. That is barely scratching the surface of the story."

Fango got an update from an actress in the film. She plays a stripper in a fetish club, where she's drenched in blood. Here's what she described: "I was covered in spurting blood so profuse that it reminded me of the old martial arts movies where people spray gallons [of it]. Adam Baldwin, playing a vampire, snapped the arm of a patron in the strip club; I was playing the stripper who had been giving the customer a lap dance when all hell broke loose! They sprayed kung-fu-horror amounts of blood all over me while I lay there topless. I was literally drenched from head to toe in the stuff while [Baldwin] gargled it and spat one-liners at me. I didn't have to fake my gasping, flinching reaction; I couldn't help it since I was being drenched! The mess afterward was very impressive. This is going to be one very bloody movie."

NOTE: This sounds like the bare scene we talked about in earlier posts.  Clare is NOT the stripper, she's still the female lead-as we suggested.

DETAILS

- Filming has wrapped and will go into post-production shortly.
- Expect a lot of blood, but don't expect the vamps to have fangs.
- The film is said to be going towards a documentary style-look, with lots of jump-cutting and handheld camerawork.
- Actory Jeremy Sisto (May, Wrong Turn) plays the vamp leader, Darius, who's said to be a cross between Charles Manson and Quentin Tarantino.
- Described as Trainspotting meets Near Dark.
