CORY OSBORNE
It's okay that you are 17yrs, my brother is 17yrs and I am having be the boom mic operator. He helped last year and did a great job.
As far as roles, it's really hard to tell you what you will be doing, which character. I may have you be a production assistant and an actor, if that's okay. But I will let you know exactly what I need for you to do. Last year it was well organized and I plan to have the same this year.
Let me know of any positions in addition to acting that you are interested in. If you would send me your number.
Thanks, Natalie

Hello all,
I am looking forward to another year of the 48 Hour Film weekend and
all the fun, how `bout you?!
This will be my third year, as it is for some of you reading this. My
goal with this posting is to get on board with a team that has been in
this before as well.
My experience previously in these years were with The Countering
Group: Terminal Count with Lonna, Eric, KK, Jenny, Lance and others,
where I even played an on-screen part and my name was used throughout
the film.
This past year I was with Team Orville and Wilbur: Corporate Ladder,
which consisted of Jerry, Laura, David, Frank, and many more. I have
been fortunate to enjoy the people I worked with and have a lot of fun.
My qualifications are as follows:
Extensive experience in makeup, I have a passion for making people
look beautiful through cosmetics. It is an art form and I'm very good
at it and professional.
I come to the set well prepared and quiet. I know my place is to keep
those in front of the camera looking good and fresh. I also do a
variety of special effects make up using latex, blood and color and
can offer some hair and wardrobe/styling.
I use MAC cosmetics and work as a make up professional in business,
offering private training, helping actresses make professional
portfolios and designing web sites for them as well as musicians and
other professionals. In addition, I keep busy doing movies and
freelance work in area stores. I am fast and creative.
I worked on many special projects and eight movies in 2004, including
two full-length features as key make up artist.
A Southern Ohio Film Association board member and producer of music
and film festivals such as the "Queen City Film and Video Festival", I
bring attention to detail provide enthusiasm and know-how to any
project. I know a lot of makeup tricks and know how to keep actors
looking (and smelling) their best.

Last year I directed a short film for the 48Hour Film Festival. I am
actually doing it again this year. I guess I like pain, but the chaos
of it all was worth it. You may remember my team, we are The
Insomniacs. The film was shown at the Madison Theater in September,
2004, it was called "This Is Your Lucky Day." A short about a guy who,
basically and accidentally, has a one night stand with a woman who he
finds out was actually a drag queen. And yes, the drag show was real.
We were mentioned in the Enquirer twice.
If anyone is interested, especially my cast and crew from last year
please contact me ASAP. Let me know what you are wanting to do, if you
want to be cast or crew, if you have any equipment, anything you can
tell me would be great.
Thanks again, Pilar Productions
Oh, for those of you who have never done this before it is all based on
a volunteer basis. That is one of the rules of the 48Hour Film
Festival.
I've heard that online entry forms would be available for download
from the 48 Hour website today.
Is this true?
If so does anyone know when today they will be available?
Thanks

directors/editors/talent of a Group A Short Film. This experience
was something that I am sure most of us involved will never forget,

thought of everyone elses films, we talk about how hard it was, or
how fun it was, but can we now begin with the constructive
critisism... So please post your Group A/B/C and list YOUR top

48 Hours or Bust
By Bill Miller
Jun 1, 2004 12:00 PM
In the video business, discipline is just as critical as creativity
E-mail this article
They descended on the farm a legion of volunteers equipped with
Sony PD150s, rusting Omni lights, and backpacks full of enthusiasm.
The "borrowed" orange extension cords, dusty from hanging in dad's
shed for years, were worn around the shoulders like badges of honor.
These young filmmakers and I call them filmmakers even though they
were shooting video had come to my place to make a short movie,
part of the 48 Hour Film Project sponsored by Avid. Participating
teams must put together a short video from scratch in just two days,
not knowing the genre of their script until the competition starts.
That means writing, shooting, editing, and delivering it before the
clock stops ticking.
What I enjoyed most was seeing the zeal and passion these young
Stephen Spielberg-wannabes brought to the project. Despite a freezing
drizzle, hour after hour they toiled, substituting enthusiasm for
experience. Part of my idea in taking a backseat role was to let them
learn from their mistakes. Finding your own path is often a better
teaching experience than being led every step of the way. I must
admit, a couple of times I did offer suggestions (bounce the light in
a basin of water to give an eerie effect, for example), but that's
because I can't always keep my paws off.
And so it went for 48 hours, at times peacefully. Other times the
tension rolled across the fields like the unwelcome rain that chilled
the bones but didn't dampen the spirit.
And then came the editing. I just happen to have a complete editing
facility at the farm, which I had offered to the crew. So while I
slept, the machines digitized and colorized and formulized the story.
When I awoke after a sound sleep, I was greeted by the bleary-eyed
director and editor huddled under blankets as blue images foretelling
their future danced across the screen. Twelve hours to go and there
was still work to be completed. Music, titles, and oh yes voice-
over narration. Could they complete the edit and beat the traffic
into Boston in time? It seemed like a reasonable task.
There was one minor problem. The director, an affable young fellow
with tattoos and earrings, forgot one main principle, which is a must
for all video makers, whether you're doing a 2-hour movie, a
corporate puff piece, a commercial, or a 6-minute entry in a 48-hour
film festival: DISCIPLINE with capital letters. Without discipline
there is no video; there is no video career. All projects have
deadlines; it's part of the rules. While it's fun to color outside
the lines, you gotta follow the rules.
After all the hard work, after hours without sleep, the director let
the whole project go down the drain. He kept tinkering and tinkering
until it was past time to be on the road. And sure enough, they
missed the deadline by 15 minutes and were disqualified from the
judging. The director dismissed it as, "Oh, it's only a film
festival." But to the 20 people who poured their souls out for him,
it was more than a film festival, and he owed it to them to meet the
deadline even if it meant sacrificing some of his creativity. This is
a business of creativity and discipline, and you have to respect
both. I hope this is the lesson they learned from their 48 hours at
the farm.
(For more information on the 48 Hour Film Project, check out
www.48hourfilm.com.)
The 48 Hour Film Project is holding movie contests in 21 cities in
the United States and Europe. Filming teams must complete their
movies in 48 hours and deliver them for judging, which makes for fast
and intense shooting sessions (above). Team Torpor took top honors in
Boston with its film Rubbers, and all of the movies entered were
shown in eight packed screenings in early April.
I had offered my property as the shoot location. With barns, horses,
and acres of fields, plus an indoor bathroom, it was a pretty nice
setup for this guerrilla band, and it was free. Having spent the last
40 years in the business, I decided to take a passive roll in this
project, which is extremely difficult for a hands-on guy like myself.
I volunteered my advice only when it came to lunch. (That's 'cause I
know where the pizza joint is.)
By Bill Miller
I just have to say a big shout out to all the teams who participated
in the 48 Hour Film Project this year. There were a lot of talented
people involved in every movie I saw.
It was an honor to have my movie play along with everyone else's. It
was also 48 Hours of grueling, stressful work. Two weeks later & I'm
still recovering.
Hope to see you all at the BEST OF screening!

An important note about the Queen City Film and Video Festival
Due to circumstances out of my control, the festival will not happen
this weekend on August 14th, as originally planned. Right now it
looks like the actual showing will be in late September or perhaps
into October.
Originally tied in with the 48 hour project, it was thought that
with 36 potential movies for that event alone, it would be wise to
move the festival to the 48 hour winners show date.
I had not been given any information at all concerning the amount of
time until just this past week as to what time I was to have, the
charges I would incur, the timing of things limiting my ability to
be able to market the festival at all or sell advance tickets. My
hands have been tied because if the association with 48 hours.
I am now told that the winner's screenings will be at one of two
possible locations that does not include the Greaves Concert hall,
site of this weekends event and the original location. I do not know
at this time anything more than that. So again, my hands are tied as
to what I can do to market the film fest.
I have not given up hope on a link between the two but at the same
time I have to be able to get something going definitively and
regain some kind of control to make it a success.
I am open to other possible locations if anyone wants to step
forward with ideas.
I am having some surgeries done in the next week and will need
approximately 3 weeks minimum recovery time. The surgery is
scheduled for the day after the next SOFA meeting on August 18th. It
was thought that the festival would have been behind me by then,
therefore the possibility now of an October film festival, depending
on several factors.
To this point, there has been absolutely no marketing done.. The web
site, QCfilmfestival.tripod.com
remains the best source of information for those who want to keep up
with the changes as they happen.
As a plug, I was part of the team "Orville and Wilbur" over the 48
hour weekend and we created a wonderful 8 minute short
entitled "Corporate Ladder" in the horror genre category.
My thanks go out to a wonderful cast and crew to make not only a
wonderful movie, regardless of the time we had to make it but also
such professionalism shown throughout and the talent evident
throughout the process in every area. I had a great time doing make
up, hair and wardrobe for the cast and putting my signature on the
film. Thanks to those who gave me that chance. I was in a zone the
entire weekend and had a great time, while learning and evolving in
many ways!
That brings me to the "Directors' Cuts" I would like to screen at
the film fest. Any and all films shot during the weekend are wanted,
so if you have one, send it to me! All the same rules apply, VHS,
DVD or MiniDV formats welcomed and there are no entry fees!
Send them to the address below.
Thanks all!
Peace,

For photo coverage during the weekend, we are looking for a variety
of locations where teams will be shooting. Do any of you have
specific places lines up where you know you will be working on
Saturday? If so, I would appreciate it if you could drop me a line at
mmcgurk@... with as many particulars as possible (including
a phone contact number).
Thanks!

All 48 Hour Producers:
To put it bluntly: Don't count on food this year; I've had a few
restaurants that are willing to offer just small amounts, so unless
there's a windfall this week, you'll be drawing for the few
sponsorships that I have. I'm still working on Dewey's Pizza and
LaRosa's and a few others.
I talked to Chipotle and discovered that last year's event was "too
much of a headache." What I once thought was an isolated incident turns
out to have been much more widespread than I realized; I was told that
a number of managers called the regional office that weekend with
complaints of rude customers who failed to follow the ordering
instructions and got very demanding when they showed up to pick up
their food and it wasn't ready. That's what lack of sleep will do to
you, I guess...
If you haven't yet received the email which Jenelle posted below,
please let me know...Liz had a couple of emails addresses that didn't
work.
Also, keep in mind that the Pick Up Event is limited to 2
representatives per team.

I don’t know about the food and
drink sponsors but I can share the following information with you:
I have moved the QC film fest into
September, probably about the 18th. I am still waiting to hear back
from Shawn myself to discuss the details. There are about 36 teams entered, to
my knowledge at this point and the rest of the information comes from Liz~

PM To: Cin48HourFilm@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Cin48HourFilm] event
questions
Are there any food/beverage sponsers this year?
Also, I have yet to receive an e-mail giving the time and
place of the kickoff drawing, so what is going on?
I am a 33 year old female in Cincinnati looking for a role as an actress or extra in the 48 hour movie contest. Last year I participated and had a lot of fun. I have been in three other local made independent films. The most recent "Nattyville".
PLEASE email me at cincy_extra@... to learn more on how I can benefit your team.
Sincerely,
cincy_extra
