We have our teams set for the inaugural year of the 48 Hour Film Project in
Columbus. My
thanks go out to all the team leaders who believe in what this event can bring
to the central
Ohio film industry and beyond, as well as the many folks who helped spread the
word.
The screening of the films is set for Wednesday, August 20th at Landmark's
Gateway Theatre
and Event Place on High Street in Columbus. Tickets will be available at the
door. Space will
be limited. Screening times will be announced closer to the screening date.

Cincinnati's 48 Hour Film Winner Headed to Cannes
Represent Ohio! Help support local filmmakers in attending the Cannes
Film Festival!
Held In Sway, winner of the 2007 Cincinnati 48 Hour Film Project has
been selected to screen at The 2008 Cannes Film Festival. The
Festival de Cannes is regarded as one the most prestigious,
influential and exciting motion picture events in the world. This
year's festival will take place May 14th – 25th in the French
Riviera. 35,000 film professionals are expected to attend.
Mirepoix Pictures, a team comprised of Cincinnati residents Amy
Cunningham, Mike Dittiacur, Russ Faust and John Mays, created "Held In
Sway." The competition requires the short film be made from concept
to completion in 48 hours. Approximately 2,200 films in 60 cities
worldwide were completed for this year's contest. The top 12 films
will screen at Cannes.
Held In Sway won Best Directing, Cinematography, Musical Score and
Best Film 2007 in Cincinnati. The film can be viewed online at
YouTube.com and soon at www.mirepoixpix.com <http://www.mirepoixpix.com> .
"As independent filmmakers, this is a dream come true and an
once-in-a-lifetime honor! We know that it would be a great mistake to
miss this important event - both to represent our work and our local
filmmaking community." says director Russ Faust.
The filmmakers are organizing two benefit events to raise the money to
travel to France and attend the festival. The first mixer is at the
Trolley Stop Bar in Dayton, Ohio on Sunday April 27, 2008 from 7-11pm.
Jasper's Restaurant and Nightclub in Cincinnati's Mt. Lookout Square
will host the event on the following Sunday, May 4 2008 from 7-11pm.
A small cover of $20.00 will include food; drink tickets,
entertainment, a raffle and screenings of the film. There will be a
reduced rate with a student ID. They hope all will attend to celebrate
among Cincinnati's extremely talented film community!
If those dates are inconvenient for attendance, one can also support
this endeavor by contributing a tax-deductible donation through:
The Yellow Springs Arts Council

PO Box 459
Yellow Springs, Ohio 45387.
Please write Mirepoix Pictures in the memo line.

There will be a slide show of photos from the 2007 48 Hour Film
Project-Cincinnati at the SOFA mixer on 8/21/07. The mixer will begin
at 8PM and will be held at The 20th Century Theater (3021 Madison Rd.
in Oakley).
At this weekend's (7/20-7/22) 2007 Cincinnati 48 Hour Film Project, I
will be visiting different team's locations to do still photography of
the event. If you are a producer of a team and would be interested in
having me visit your set, please let me know. Instead of replying to
this email, please send a message to blueashfilmgroup@.... I
will check that email periodically over the weekend. Include team
name, contact name and phone number (a number you can be reached at
during the weekend), and shooting location and when you think you will
be there. I can't promise how many locations I will make it to but we
will see.
Let's make some great films this weekend!
If anyone is interested, I am hosting a 'best of' 48 hour viewing at
the Oakley Library, next Saturday, July 7th from 11am to 1pm. I am
inviting people from my team, but it's open to anyone who wants to
come. Also, I don't have a copy of the 2006 Cincinnati films. If
anyone has that one and can come, please do.
If you still don't have a team, contact me at
Stephanie.Dawson@....
Peace,
Stephanie Dawson

Is the spam filter turned on this list.? If I keep getting 3-5 spams a day from this list I will be dropping out and would suggest everyone else to do the same and reform a new group. The frequency is increasing.
Subject: [Cin48HourFilm] Do you have life experience?
Just got my BS and i wasnt even required to turn up! Just called these people 770 621 2634, filled out a few forms and a bit of paperwork and was accredited within 3 weeks at an internationally recognised Uni! How good is that!

I agree with Eric - change the settings. But also, there's another
group that I set up for the pseudo-official Cincy 48HFP group - with
moderated e-mail postings for new members. :-)
It's CincyUSA48HFP on Yahoo groups.
And if you haven't seen, the 2007 Cincinnati 48HFP will take place
July 20-22. Sign-up begins in May. Rest up!

I would like to introduce myself to the group. (This is a one (1) time only message).
I am in Acquisitions at an independent film distributon start-up based in New York IMOOVIES, LLC and www.imoovie.com. We want to be the independent film distributor that works with you to turn your project of passion into a financial success.
We are currently looking for titles (both exclusive and non-exclusive) to add to our library. We specifically want innovative and breakthrough titles that were overlooked by mainstream distributors. We will
consider all genres and languages.
We prefer exclusive titles because they provide greater opportunities in our on-going negotiations to secure additional avenues of distribution including downloads, rentals, on-demand, and cable. But we are more than happy to include both exclusive and non-exclusive titles in our on-line store.
I would love to work with you. Visit us to see how they can be a partner in your film's success.

I'm heading up a 48 hour team in Lexington Ky. It might be too far of a
drive for you but if you are interested in being a part of it send me an
email back and we can talk.
I'm going to be directing it and we do already have to camera men. But I
KNOW we can benefit from your past experience because we are all brand new
to the festival

As many of you know Team Banzai (Hero Wars: The Menacing Menace, and Vivisector:The Musical) has decided not to enter the 48 hour film project in Cincinnati this year due to schedule conflicts with several of the team members. I had tried to get on another team, but that has now fallen through. So, I am looking for a team that may need either camera or directoral help. If anyone in interested, please let me know. Additionally some of my team is still interested in participating.
Stephen Demo here from Lumpy Milk Productions in Cincinnati.
We are currently seeking:
Actors / Actresses
Makeup
Sound
Lighting
One-man-band (must be musically inclined, females and aliens will
also be considered)
Random Team Mascot (must provide furry costume)
PA or two or three...
Seems like quite a demand for human resources, but in all honesty, we
don't want to do everything ourselves... Besides, this is supposed to
be a community event, so let's have a block party and eat burnt hot
dogs, drink burnt beer and make a short film we can show to people
who like short films!
In addition, if you are an employee at a coffee shop, your assistance
is not only obvious, but greatly appreciated as well.

Hi everyone. My name is Holly Dunlap and I am looking for a team to be

I know its getting a little late for this but if anyone needs an extra hand, or
pa
on their set I would really like to join a team. I am a 17 year old from
Cincinnati. Ive started recently going to the SOFA meetings and have spoken
with a lot of people. The only thing is that most of them are taking this year
off
from the 48 hour competition, and I am still out looking for a team. I have
experience on two music video sets as a production assistant, and I film
weddings so I have some experience with a camera. I am determined to
persue a career in film making someday and I am already looking at film
schools. I believe this would be a great experience and could benefit me for
the future. If anyone needs or knows of some one who could use another
crew member, please dont hesitate to email or call

Hello,
Many of you know me as Laura O'Connell. I recently got married and my
name is Laura Ecker now.
I do not have the time to produce my own team this year so I would
love to work with a new team.
Please email me at lauraecker2005@...
We are looking for new crew members this year for the 48 hour film project. We have participated for both the past two years (Hero Wars: the Menacing Menace, and Vivisector: the Musical), but due to schedule confilcts (and the change of the date) I have lost about 1/2 of the team. As a result, I am in desperate need of:
Production manager - someone very organized to keep us on schedule for the weekend.
Composer - we have always had an original score and would like to continue, but I will consider pre recorded music from bands.
Sound guy with gear - we have always lacked in the sound area so definitely looking for help there.
Gaffer/grip - If you have lights and will help, come on down
PA's- always need and extra hand or too (espicially if you have access to any gear, locations etc.)
Actors - Never hurts to have actors around, in the past if we can't use you, we've posted to other teams that might be looking.
Based on past experience, our team gets the most sleep. We meet Friday to plan and go over the script. Sat we have crew call at around 8:00 am and we have only shot for 12- 14 hours (and we have a craft services person). Sundays are for me and the editor.
We have always done this for fun first and as a contest second. As a result we have a good time (and have made two fairly good movies).
Send an e-mail with any experience and stuff you might have to arrogcow@.... Please no Divas
ITS A MORE PRIVATE GROUP SO THAT GROUPS IN THE 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT DONT LET OTHER TEAMS HERE WHAT THEY ARE DOING! SO THAT OTHERS DONT COPY! I DONT KNOW JUST CREATED IT SO I COULD HAVE MY OWN GROUP TO COLLABORATE WITH.
