David Murray, a former Disney animation artist, and award winning story writer,
whose
screen credits include Mulan, Tarzan, Lilo and Stitch, and Brother Bear, has
published his
new fantasy adventure novel, "Majesty, the Sorcerer and the Saint", released
December,
2005. It is written for ages 10 through adult.
Murray writes about sorcery from a Christian perspective. I am reading the first
book now
and so far it is pretty good and compares favorably to Narnia although the
Christian theme
is more overt than in Narnia.

Its perfect timing because I just finished a great novel entitled Imperial
Legions ( Andrew
M. Seddon) about a Roman officer who is stationed in Britain during some
turbulent times
there. He had become a believer of 'The Way' and was being challenged in his
beliefs at
his new post. It was quite good and very 'Celtic'...

Thanks for the info. I love 2nd Chapter of Acts but don't have that album. Will
have to look
for it.

Yo - The retired "2nd Chapter of Acts" did an album called "The Roar
of Love", based on the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, sometime back
in the '80s or so. Not my favorite 2nd Chapter of Acts album, but who
can resist their harmonies.....(or Annie Herring's piano playing)...
I have been reading the "Legends of the Guardian Kings" epic series by Karen
Hancock,
and thoroughly enjoying it. I decided I should recommend it to all of you as I
believe
anyone who loves Narnia or Middle Earth will love Kiriath.

I saw the movie day before yesterday. Sorry - I just haven't had time to do a
good review. I
really liked it. However, I left the movie and realized the film, while
enjoyable, was not
really meaty. It was like eating Chinese food - I didn't feel "full" afterwards.
Compared to
the after-effects of, say, The Lord of the Rings, I found Narnia a little
lacking in hindsight.
But, it was well worth seeing. I don't plan to see it again, (although if
someone else paid
for the ticket I would go again!) but I will definitely buy it when it comes out
on DVD...
after it goes on sale!

Saw the movie today. That was it? I see from
IMDB.com that the budget was $180M for this
and I'm left wondering what they spent all that
money on. The movie wasn't really too bad,
just wasn't what I expected, given the hype.
I hope that Disney drops the project, or that
that they take a better approach if they continue.
(Old-School production values are in order if
they want to do the other books).
I'm wondering right about now, if they want to put
C.S. Lewis out there, his space trilogy would
have made more sense from a marketing view.
Readers and movie fans worldwide know the land of Narnia and the magical beings who dwell there. But few know the genius who created this beloved fantasy. Now meet Oxford professor C.S. Lewis in this engaging biography, filmed in the locales where he lived, worked and imagined "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe," "The Magician's Nephew" and the other tales that make up the beloved Chronicles. You’ll be introduced to a man, who was not only a gifted storyteller, but also a weaver of Christian allegories. And you’ll learn how he made the journey from atheist to believer and emerged as one of the most significant Christian thinkers of the twentieth century.

Georgie Henley has to be the envy of every budding actress in Britain. The
10-year-old has
left her ordinary schoolgirl life behind to take a lead role in the epic new
movie of The
Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. And considering her most challenging roles to

have been on stage as a monster and a Morris dancer, the starlet is taking the
transition in
her stride. She admitted: "I don't want to sound selfish or anything, but I kind
of like being
in the spotlight. It's nice to be noticed." More at:

Sideshow Collectibles and Weta Workshop joined together to make many Lord of the
Rings
products but they will not have the same relationship for Narnia products
according to an
email I just received:
Thanks for getting in touch. You probably have read about the Weta line of
collectibles for this film. Although we worked with Weta to produce our
Lord of the Rings collectibles, we are not working with them on the line you
are interested in. Please let me know if I can help you with anything else,
and I hope you find some of our current products that interest you.

Weta Workshop, best known for their work on Lord of the Rings, has designed and
manufactured all the armour, weapons, special props and scannable maquettes, for
the
extensive creature requirements in the world of Narnia.

I agree. I couldn't put them down either and I loved the Biblical allegory. I
can't wait for the
movies! Welcome to the group, by the way!

finished one I had to read the next one. I always liked how C.S Lewis related
his story to
the BIBLE ( Just like J.R.R Tolkein) like Aslan representing Jesus and so on.
