Having problems with message search?
Personally I beleive all animals have souls (I myself have a dog and a horse). I just ignored that line as it's (don't shoot me please) only a TV show (imho). I kind of wondered about the devil appearing as Jerri Slate in the past as well.

Subject: [ChrisKramer_Fans] The Jockey - Episode Review (with spoilers)
Personally, I found 'The Jockey' to be a little disappointing -- irritating,
even -- as something Morgan said angered me so deeply I almost turned off my
TV. In this episode we see the devil raising/stealing the race horse's soul
while a horrified Freddie Grimshaw looks on. Moments later, during one of
Morgan's heated exchanges with his client, the soul collector blurts out that
the devil was playing mind games with him because, in fact, animals do not
have souls.
