Those of you who have voted in the polls so far, thank you. If you
haven't yet, they will be open through the end of the month. Please
let us know what you think.

Oh, for those who didn't know, the Nolan family sanctioned 1 sequal
and 1 rewrite to Amegedon 2415, beside the Buster Crabbe Serial.
Modred writen in the 70's by John Eric Holmes and is a very good
attempt at recreating the characters of the original book. TSR
Produced a series of books in the 80's that mixed the Gil Girard and
Armegedon 2415 versions. The first book was Rebellion 2456. The result
could be termed the forth remake of the original book.

It's remarkable what you notice once your looking. After his first
appeared on Buck, I started noticing him on lots of reruns as villian
of the week. When looking through those nostaglia discs on the
bairgain racks, I see how much TV Buster Crabbe did.

Disney or Sci Fi doing a Buck Rogers script. That sounds like a choice
between Collera and Typhoid. It may have the title but will probably
have nothing to due with any of the sanctioned books or the TV series.
I'd rather get Hensen's monster factory to write it.

Those duplication farms run hundreds of discs through the machines at
a time. One or two passes could have thousands of side b's ruined and
not effect any other disc in the set. Considering they probably
produced a couple of million sets, the likely hood that several
thousands could be deffective would not be unheard of. Actor contracts
usually only affect release of the material they appeared in, and not
any commentary on that material. I suspect the loosey release was due
tio loosey management at universial. Look at the releases of Lost in
Space. Very little of anything there. The same with the DVD of Star
Trek TOS.

Okay.

This isn't an official "I got it from some website" piece of info. A
friend of mine that works for The Sci-Fi Channel in New York told me
this yesterday (on Sunday, May 8th):

As some of you may know, Disney bought up the rights to Buck Rogers
in 1997 to develop a project of sorts out of it (probably a movie).
A few scripts got tossed around, but even it all went silent. Well,
my friend "Chuck" (not his real name, but we'll just call him that
since he wasn't supposed to tell me about this at all) told me he
overheard some talk around the cooler about The Sci-Fi Channel
buying up the rights for Buck Rogers off of Disney in hopes to
develop a new series based off of it, using their recent success
with the new Battlestar Galactica as proof that the new Buck series
will sell to the public for sure (given the right actors, writers,
directors, ect.).

Now I don't know if "Chuck" is pulling my leg or not (he does know
I'm a monstrously rabid Buck Rogers fan), but if the info is true
(which I sadly have no way to verify it) then we may be in store for
the return to TV of the original space hero!

Well, on a few other message boards I vaiguely remember reading as
well as two of my friends, have had the same problem I've had with
Disk 1 Side B. It's basically that the side just skips like crazy to
the point to that eventually it just locks up and your DVD player
can't read anything off of it. It locks up on my Playstation 2, on
my Panasonic DVD/VCR, and on my Mintek DVD player, so I know it's
not any one particular player.

As to Gil & Erin with wanting too much money about it all, that's
pretty sad if it's true. When I was at the 25th anniversary showing
if the original 1978 film back in November, Gil was absent and both
me and my father were pretty suprised. Felix was too which was
doubly odd. But yea, Erin showed up with her husband & daughter, all
smiles and what not for the cameras.

I just really do wish they had done so much more with the box set. I
mean, it is literally a bare-bones box set and there's not even an
alternate TV broadcast version of "Awakening" on the front of Disk
1. Fortunately, the box set HAS allowed me to go over the second
season with a fine-toothed comb and assess that in reality, it's not
all that bad. It wasn't honestly as good overall as the first
season, but it had it's moments for sure.

With all that said and done, I have a little piece of possible Buck
news I'll write on another post right after this.....

What kind of problem have you had with disc 1 side B?  Mine works fine.  It is fair to say that the DVD is disapointing considering the effort they have put into other TV sets (especially Battlestar Galactica).  The interesting thing is that BG did not do as well as Buck Rogers back in the late 1970s.  I suppose the reason they put effort into BG was because of the new mini-series which debuted around the same time as the DVD was sold.

I also seem to remember reading that Universal planned a more lavish release, but there were problems with Gil Gerard and Erin Gray's agents asking for too much money (they have the same agent).

For those here that are readers of fantasy and science fiction, I have
some sad news. On March 17 Andre Norton pasted off this earth to
eternity. She wrote, co-authored, and edited aproximately 189 titles. A
leader in the character driven field of the science fiction and fantasy
genres, she created personalities her readers could identify with. Many
of today's writers grew up reading her books and emulating her style.
The movie series "The Beastmaster", was very loosely adapted from one
of her novels. Her fans will miss her, and the science fiction
community has lost a source of inspiration.

The DVD's are great. Too bad they took so long to get here. They used
the theatrical version of the first episode. This left out some
footage used in the broadcast version and added other footage the
broadcast left out. Why couldn't they programed an option, or included
both?

Let me explain why I am selling Fanzines. My aunt recently passed
away quite suddenly. She and her sisters were into Fandom for all
sorts of tv series and movies. I am selling her Fandom collection
that dates all the way back to the late 1970s. Since my mom and my
other aunt are no longer in fandom, I am offering the zines for sale
to hopefully permanent loving homes.

With that said, please read on....

PLEASE BE ADVISED: That I skimmed through these zines to find any
explicit sex, sometimes reading the zines backwards to catch them,
and if it didn't jump out at me, then I did NOT note it. If I have
mislabeled a zine ADULT or not labeled an ADULT zine appropriately,
will those who know the fandom better than I email me and KINDLY let
me know which zine and the discrepancy and I'll fix it.

I DO NOT and WILL NOT xerox copies OF ANY zine.

I have the following Buck Rogers Fan Zines for Sale....

PRICE: $5.00 USD. TITLE: Nemesis. ZINE COPYRIGHT: N/A. FORMAT:
Stapled Binding. PAGES: 105.

Even during the show he wasn't exactly a body builder. After he did
a show about ecology police that only lasted maybe 5 episodes. he
was showing then. Erin was a burnette in her other TV series and
movies. I was thinking that may be her original color.

I've read his Rebellion 2450. He is a good author and the family did
license him. He just ates the characters in a different direction.
In Rebellion 2450 he used elements from the original book and
developed them with the kind of updating used in the TV series.
Maybe truer to the Original material in spirit then some, but not
what most would be used to. If you can get a copy of the original
Armegedon 2415 you will she what I mean.
