HOLLYWOOD COMES TO BROOKLYN

On Wednesday, March 26, 2003 - Brothers Gonna Work It Out premiered at
the Linden Boulevard Multiplex Theater.

What makes this youth awareness film stand out above the rest is that it
provided many opportunities for Brooklyn community residents to showcase
their various talents in front of the camera as well as behind it.

This film was written, directed and produced by Sura Khan, Community
Coordinator for the N.Y.C.H.A. Albany Houses Community Center. The
majority of the actors featured in this film were predominantly public
housing residents.

Sura Khan had a vision and realized early on when he started working at
Albany Houses. He knew he wanted to make a difference, one that would
leave a lasting impact on the lives of the youth that resided in New York
City Housing as well as the community at large. After 6 months of
rehearsal, 8 months of filming and 7 months of editing this independent
film was completed.

In addition to the film being done, a 17 song soundtrack was produced
along with a music video and website to promote the film.

The "Hollywood" spotlights lit up the night sky as Brothers Gonna Work It
Out premiered at the Linden Boulevard Multiplex Theater. Spectators stood
in awe at all the fanfare surrounded by this major event. It was truly
breathtaking. Movie goers just coming to the theater to view other movies
were mesmerized by the red carpet treatment and the buzz all around. Even
though it rained, that did not stop people from coming out and supporting
this film. There were well over 400 people that came to the premiere.
Each person in attendance received a movie poster along with the movie
soundtrack.

As the cast entered the cinema, you could see it in their eyes – they
were honored by the red carpet treatment and Sura Khan’s introduction
of them. They were beaming from ear to ear and the crowd could sense
their sheer joy and outstanding achievement. This was a monumental moment
in everyone’s lives that were involved – no question about it.
