Re: [BoweryBoys] Teala Loring Interview

Hey, that was cool of you to go through the work of sharing this.  I wish Bowery Bombshell was available on DVD.  Many of Jerry Lewis' are not available either.

Hello all.  I came across an old copy of a Classic Images magazine
(September 2002 No. 327) not too long ago and was pleasantly
surprised to find inside an interview with 1940s B-actress Teala
Loring.  Some of you may remember her because she appeared in the
Bowery Boy's movies Bowery Bombshell (1946) and Hard Boiled Mahoney
(1947).  She appeared in numerous other movies as well, but
interestingly enough she also appeared in the Gas House Kids (1946)
as well.  In the interview she mentioned the Bowery Boys a bit, so I
thought everyone here might like to read what she had to say.

TEALA LORING -- Working in the B's
By Tom Weaver

<snip>

   TW: What's your favorite movie, of the ones you were in?

   Teala Loring: Oh, I don't know.  I enjoyed all of them…

   TW: Well, if you had all movies on a shelf and I walked into your
house and I asked you to show me one… which one would you show me?

   Teala Loring: I liked the Bowery Boys picture Bowery Bombshell
[1946].  I liked that as well as anything.

<snip>

   TW: The Bowery Boys – how were they to work with?

   Teala Loring: [Laughs] Crazy!  Very nice but very crazy.
Especially Huntz Hall, he was the craziest of them all.

   TW: Crazy in a nice way?

   Teala Loring: Oh, yes.  He wanted to take every girl out, and if
you didn't say yes, he didn't like you very well.  He asked me a few
times and I said no.  But he was fun to work with.

   TW: And no problems with him after you said no?

   Teala Loring: No.  He just didn't really talk to you very much
after that!

   TW: And Leo Gorcey?

   Teala Loring: He was nice.  Leo's father Bernard Gorcey was
also in Bowery Bombshell, he was the little guy who owned the sweet
shop.  And [there was] also Bernard's other son, Leo's brother, Dave
Gorcey.  I thought, "[Leo and David] has to have a different
mother!", because that young boy Dave Gorcey was so nice-looking
compared to the father and his brother Leo.  He definitely had to
have a different mother [laughs]!
