The recent discussion about two Eastside Kids film Kid Dynaite and
Bowert Bleitzkreig being the same film is wrong, the films are
different, but the tape or DVD distributers don't know their Muggs
from their Slips, Ive seen discount tapes using the term Bowery Boys
for a Eastside title. Since these films are in the public domain,
which means nobody has the rights these cheap distributers use any
pic or source material available to put on the box, the tapes are not
in the best shape being taken from well-used tv prints.
The rights to the Bowery Boys films were purchased by Warner Brothers
in 1962 from Monogram/Allied Artists and promptly had their copywrite
renewed by the studio and Gorcey/Hall.
Its sad that there are only 6 VHS Bowery Boys titles available on
tape, but I remember John Byner hosting BB films on A@E about ten
years ago.
