That's great. I especially like the one where he's holding the gun,
but they're all excellent.

Hey you all...
I just got photoshop on my laptop and I decided to play around with a
couple Barret photos...I posted some in the new album "fan made
art"...Let me know what you think!Thanks..
He does not look old just older. I look older than I did when I was 15. It was a shock for me to see his hair like that because I just was expecting it, to me he looked a bit like a rabbi which is not to say he looked bad jut not what I had expected, and if he is happy then that is what matters.

Well I think he looks his age. He has elected to not be in a very
modern occupation vis a vis historical photographic methods and is a
member of the historical society ... thus the connection with the

I don't believe that anyone here thinks any less of him just because of
his change of appearance, at least not on my end. All I am stating is
my opinion on how much different he looks now. I never once stated that
just because he may have dreads or a long beard is he not a "good"
person or anything of that matter. It is just a bit shocking to see
someone who, I in fact, used to be very admirable of when I was a young
girl change so dramatically! As a matter of fact, I think that his
whole persona and appearance is quite awesome! He is a
creative/brilliant guy with a unique look to him! I find that very
attractive! As I recall the photos of his father, he was an attractive
older looking gentlemen which Barret resembles quite so! I apologize if
any of you took my comment the wrong way. I'm sure all of you were just
as shocked to see the photo as I was and you all, of course, have your
own opinions as well, I just happen to state them in a certain manner.

I don't see how you guys are saying he looks old. I don't see any
gray hairs and it really doesn't look like he's balding that much.
Also, he's not doing too bad if he looks like his father when he gets
older.

Sorry, had to come back.
While I agree that baldness is genetic I am very sused by the post
that determines he was '52%' likely to lose hair like his father.
Hahaha, what a pretentious post!
The next reason I'm back is to say well done again finding pics of
him, most likely to be him. But goodness, what is the problem, he was
a neat person- if he now has dreads then does it make him any less of
a person?! Good on him, hopefully he is happy and blessed! With
comments like these no wonder he didn't want people to know it was
him. I think he's doing great.... just my opinion LOL.
Well welcome to the group! Yeah I was completely shocked to see him
too..Yeah I hope that isn't Barret and hopefully there is some guy out
there with the same name, but it is such a coinsidence considering that
I have heard from various accounts that his picture is inside of his
new book that he wrote and they state that he, in fact, has a long
beard, dread locks, and wears glasses!! Yes this is a far cry from the
adorable young man he "used" to look like. We all know he is totally
over the acting business and probably doesn't want to be recognized
based on who he used to be, but seriously though, someone who walks
around with long dreads and a long beard is bound to have attention
drawn to them. As said before, the man in the pictures could possibly
be someone else with the same name, I guess the only way we'll know is
if an accurate picture is posted, not just an action photo of his
profile or him looking down. Hopefully one will sprout!

His face during his childhood was SOOOOOO different as of now. Maybe
that "Barret Oliver" has also the same name with the true Barret that
we are idolizing. Maybe they have just the same name. That
hairy-Barret is not like 34 yrs old man, he looks like 65+ yrs. old.

Well...since realplayer found the first new BO pic on Flickr.com, I thought I would check it out just to see if there would be anymore pics of our beloved Barret, and as push comes to shove, there sure were! The same guy who posted the first one posted this one as well. They must know the same people because this was at an event which was held by the same people who were at the funeral in the first new picture. I don't believe that this person knows Barret personally or else I would think he would take a photo of Barret actually posing for a picture, not an action photo. Well...if lucks rolls our way, this anonymous guy will post some more pics of BO, until then my search is still on for new and improved pics!

Thanks Risa for this post. It has been good to view a picture that
very likely is that of Barret.
Your take upon his appearance is that he looks very old. His hair is
still dark, and his face lacks wrinkles, so I estimate that your view
of his looks comes from the fact that his hairline has receded a bit.
If you look more closely at the picture, you will notice that he is
looking somewhat downward, which of course will highlight his forehead
in a photo. If you look at his childhood pictures closely, you will
notice in certain pictures that his real hair line is on the high side
of the norm.
I have been a fan of Barrets for many years. Years ago I had come
across his various fan-sites and their respective pictures of him. I
noticed a few pictures of Barret that included his biological parents,
and I figured that Barret had roughly a 52% chance of becoming bald
like his 40ish year old father in those photos because baldness is
genetic.
I have seen balding men in their 20's, so it is not at all surprising
to me to see a guy in his 30s with a balding head. Indeed, I began to
get a duke-like bald spot on the back of my head back when I was in my
20's. Fortunately for me, the bald spot continues to grow very slowly.
I have also seen mean in their 60's or 70's with a head full of
naturally dark hair. Hair is not a good external measurement of age. I
have found that closely looking at a mans face is a better but still
imperfect way of judging age range. I find women to even be harder to
gage on age range. Age really isn't very important in our day to day
relationships aside from our desire to talk about past events during
era s that the other person very likely had also lived through.
Thanks again for the photo / info. I hope to see and learn more about
Barret and his present life as time progresses.

I've just noticed how most of the images I've looked up lately on
Yahoo pull up images from Flickr. It's the new Youtube of photos and
is still growing. I think I may have looked up his name before and it
returned NO results. This photo was just added within the last couple
of months. I hear that this is how he looks on a photo on the jacket
of his novel, History of the Woodbury Type, so going by that
description, this pic is accurate.

Wow, good spotting. He definitely does. And yet JS was only born 1986
so it makes you realise how fast time has flown. The rest of us
(Barret included) are a little older than we used to be *sigh*. I wish
B all the best, his photographs are certainly striking and skilled.
Photography is also a quieter way to observe life at a distance rather
than participating directly, so it DOESN'T matter what he looks like
or acts like now eh. All the best to him. Thank you to the rest of you
too for satisfying my curiosity about such an epic film and its
actors. x
First and foremost thanks for posting the new pic, I'm pretty sure his
fans were eager to see what he looks like currently, but I am
curious...I have been searching him on many different engines and it is
very hard finding new info. on him and I was just wondering how did you
come across this pic and who would've known that this would be on
flickr!?
I wish there was a different angle perhaps...It is only a pic of him looking down and who knows if that is even him!! Ill bet if he looked up or something it would be easier to identify him...and yes ill bet he still does have those beautiful eyes under all that hair lol...regardless best of luck to him...and how the movie world misses him as do I! =]
Look up this actor named "Johnny Simmons"...he looks identical to
Barret when he was older (circa 1988)..Its uncanny! This kid was in
Evan Almighty, he plays one of Steve Carrell's sons...He's really good
looking, just like Barret. Do you agree???

This image is from flickr.com. It's part of a set of pictures of
individual people at the funeral. Since the person who died seems
to be a kind of celebrity in some circles, he seems to have
attracted other artists. Thus, the great photographer Barret Oliver.

I believe the reason Barret quit the movie industry was that his Co-
star in Scenes was killed by a stalker -- That would be enough to drive
me into another industry -- Tom ERicksen
It is always a pity when a wonderful person, who touched us
profoundly, leaves the "scene". However, as a person who's active
in the entertainment industry, I understand the reasons why
Barret stopped acting. If I am well informed, he felt that he
wasn't treated well. Child actors are children and not "heaps of
flesh" that you place before a camera. Working in the film business is
idealised by the publicists. The profession sells "dreams", but in
order to create these dreams, the tactics aren't always proper. They
are certainly not always child-friendly. In an environment in which
there is a lot of rivalry and envy, it isn't always the best side of
the other that surfaces. This can hurt! Sometimes, to preserve
yourself, you have to take a distance. I read that Oliver Barret is
now a photographer. In a way, this activity allows him to stay in
touch with what he did as a child, without the burdens. I too wish
him the best!
I wouldn't really worry about his looks if I were you. It's no
telling how he still looks under all that hair.

It's on here under his photos...Go under the "miscellaneous" section
and its there! Yeah...I even saw pics of Noah and I personally thought
that he aged very well...he is still a cutie, but Barret, in my opinion
was the cutest kid ever and I was sad to say disappointed to see this
new pic...If you don't see the pic I'd be happy to upload it or send it
to you..
Where's the pic? Can you please provide a link? Although you have to
admit, the only one of the other two children from Never Ending Story
I'd seen recent pics of, who still looked beautiful, was the princess.
Alas, how we all age! Would you post the link though please? :))))
