I did this already. You can't find a title. If the music belongs to
the public domain, no credits are mentioned... :-(

Perhaps I shouldn't have used the word "poll" in any of my previous
subject lines.
Personal question: Why do you like specific scenes from a given
performance by Barret Oliver in a given movie so much? Please
elaborate beyond such phrases as "He was so cute." etc.
Just had an Idea. Check the end credits of the movie (I have loaned mine our for the moment) as every copywrited piece of music (or parts of) will be listed during the later part of the credits with authour, title and ususally performer.

It is always a pity when a wonderful person, who touched us
profoundly, leaves the "scene". However, as a person who's active
in the entertainment industry, I understand the reasons why Oliver
Barret stopped acting. If I am well informed, he felt that he wasn't
treated well. Child actors are children and not "heaps of flesh"
that you place before a camera. Working in the film business is
idealised by the publicists. The profession sells "dreams", but in
order to create these dreams, the tactics aren't always proper. They
are certainly not always child-friendly. In an environment in which
there is a lot of rivalry and envy, it isn't always the best side of
the other that surfaces. This can hurt! Sometimes, to preserve
yourself, you have to take a distance. I read that Oliver Barret is
now a photographer. In a way, this activity allows him to stay in
touch with what he did as a child, without the burdens. I too wish
him the best!
Today I got the DVD of `DARYL'. What a pleasure to see the film
again!!!
I still have a question that I already mentioned in the past. What is
the song Oliver Barret is playing on the piano? I suppose it is
something that a lot of pianists have to learn to play during their
education. Isn't there a piano loving Oliver Barret fan who can help
me on this one???

What happened on this site? Barret has much more votes (5114!!) than,
for example, Winona Rider (329), Jude Law (675), Haley Joel
Osment(249),
Robin Williams (343)... and most of it says that he is annoying... and
now there is a message saying "Voting for Barret Oliver has been
temporarily suspended due to Voting Abuse". Why someone loses his time
with this?

The Neverending Story. Barret Oliver gave a wonderful portrayal of a
character I could relate with. It's sad he's no longer in the acting

D.A.R.Y.L. came out in 1985, right? I am pretty sure since I think I
went to see The Lost Boys and D.A.R.Y.L. was playing at the same
theatre and they were giving away posters for it. I was 12 in 1985 as
well and I'm 32 now.
I always loved that song at the end of the film -- "Somewhere I
Belong". It's so poignant. I listened to it over and over. I mean the
last scene of D.A.R.Y.L. is just really heartwarming, Turtle is a real
funny little kid, and I LOVE when D.A.R.Y.L. is flying the jet plane
and puts the gum on the camera lens. What a cool film. I have to
borrow it from my sister as she has it on DVD (at my recommendation,
lol).

But i also like most of his other movies.

My far and away fave is The Secret Garden. Although he didn't have the
heavy Yorkshire accent of Dickon, I thought he did a great job and was
gentle and sweet as Dickon is.
After that, I think maybe I like him in D.A.R.Y.L. That's a sweet
movie as well and he gets to do a lot more in it than in say, The
Neverending Story. But I do love TNS as well!
I still need to see his last film, Scenes from the Class Struggle in
Beverly Hills, but Netflix and Blockbuster don't have it and I'm at a
loss. It seems to be out of print. I shall have to reply on a kind
Barrett collector to make me a copy!:)

It has to be D.A.R.Y.L. I went to see the film in the cinema when I
was about 12 years old (I am same age as Barrett) and I really
connected with the feelings of loneliness his charachter was going
through in the film.

Hey guys,
It's been a while since I've looked at Barret's profile on the IMDB,
and I noticed that the show "Lottery" was added to his TV apperances.
I thought that I had a complete collection, but I guess I don't. Does
anyone have this on tape/other format? I'm certainly willing to
compensate for your efforts. Thanks again.
Cheers,
Randy

that page left a email, maybe you can get the movie with him.

Hello all!
I'm new here, female, 32. I was wondering if Barrett's last
film, "Scenes from The Class Struggle in Beverly Hills" is worth
watching? I may have seen it ages and ages ago but honestly don't
remember it so I can't be sure. Is his part small? Medium? How much
screen time does he have? It's a hard film to find as I looked for
it on NetFlix and they don't have it. I would like to see it, but I
don't want to go crazy looking for it if Barrett doesn't really do
all that much in it. The pictures you have in the photos section
seem to suggest he's in a good part of the film.
My favorite of Barrett's films is The Secret Garden, but not because
it's a good adaptation because it really isn't very good in that
direction. I thought Barrett did a good job in it even though he
didn't have the Yorkshire dialect down. At least he fared better
than Gennie James who kept wandering from a Southern American accent
into a British one and back again! :) I actually have a slew of
screencaps from that film that I made if anyone wants to have a look
or use them for anything. I wasn't sure if I should upload any to
the SG folder you have on here or not. These are a smidge clearer,
though the SG dvd really wasn't transferred very well. *sigh*

There are 114 and quite heavily Barrett since like I said, it's my
favorite of his roles because I'm a great fan of the book.
I also loved the film D.A.R.Y.L and remember that before it came out
they had a hotline you could call to find out what DARYL stood for,
then you went to the theatre and you got a free poster if you told
them what it meant. I got a poster and was quite pleased since a
group of young boys at the info booth didn't have a clue as to what
it stood for, lol:)
I also loved The Neverending Story (wonderful book!) of course who
hasn't seen Cocoon? His part was quite small in that, but still it's
a good film overall.
I've been so eager to find out what became of Barrett! All I hear
and read is rumors and I can never be sure what is real or true.
Good to be here and hopefully we can get to the bottom of this
mystery!
