Forgive me as a newcomer to the group, but this is about Barret not
Moses. But I must say I'm glad that folks out there are still
excited to be close to the NES cast. I do like that movie, though
mainly through Barret's input to it. He has many extremely good
moments, as well as one or two rather bad ones (ask me about these!)
Barret is not suddenly going to re-appear - wasn't there a "Where
are you now?" thread in this group a few months ago? What we must
consider is Barret's legacy. His best work was about 17 yrs ago or
more, but we can still legitimately try to evaluate it, and so
increase our enjoyment of some great cinematographic moments by
sharing them and discussing them.
Cavaliermanus (Mark) has responded precisely to my enquiries. And
it's hell to be a BO fan in Europe - his movies don't even appear on
satellite TV, as far as I can see. Is anyone prepared to mail me
VHS or DVD of F-weene, X Marks Spot, Twilight Zone, etc? They would
win Legion of Honour medals as well as cash reimbursement. Europe
is still in the ice-age in this regard.
Let's pick up Mark's threads, at least. What are Barret's best
moments (there must be tens, even hundreds, of these)? Are we ever
disappointed in his performance? What methods did he use in
achieving such remarkable on-screen results? What are the key
moments in his development? Which Directors best utilised his
talents? And why can't the webmasters of his key sites give us some
vocals to download, since Barret's unbroken voice was so amazingly
distinctive?
This guy was a major performer that never got a major role - unless
it's F-weenie, which I've not seen. I wanna hear what you think
made him such a star. It's many years since he performed for a
camera, but no current website of juvenile actors would leave him
out. Why not? He had something special. What is it, exactly?
Let's keep the discussion going....I'm sorry it's me again, but I've
only just discovered this phenomenon......DUOBOLETI.
