Dear Movie Buddies:
I'll be having a prop making open house on Sunday May 13 from 11am to 5 pm.  Come at any point and leave at any point.  Love to see everyone.  It's the one year anniversary of BUCKYSTEIN selling out the Barrymore!
It will be at 450 Marston Ave. next to Tenny Park. My numbers are 258-9737 and 209-3418.

Hey, Geoff,
Thanks for the invite, but we were up in Sturgeon Bay attending a niece's wedding, and didn't get back until yesterday afternoon.
    I'd still love to help.

Still no start time for BONES SKELETON. As with the last movie we are
blazing new trails and with them comes setbacks. Because of the
emence size of this picture I have decided to start it episodicly on
YouTube and fallow the path of CHAD VAIDER (Go to YouTube and punch it
in, if you don't know about it. It's the greatest). I am
cosentraiting on the first three scenes at this point. NO CASTING
DESISSIONS HAVE BEEN MADE, YET.

As part of that plan. I am starting the props for those scenes: A
flying saucer (Minature), Life size giant crab claw, Harpoon gun (life
size), and a Garage (Minature).

I will be working on these today from 11:00 to 3:00 in my driveway if
you have time (late notice I know) to help, let me know 209-3418. I
live on the Isthmus near Tenny Park.

Hi production crew!
First I want to thank some of our new members:  Jeff Schiffman!  Great to have you on board! I worked on a building project on Jeff's house and  I know Jeff will have no problem fitting in. And Martin Hansberry!  I don't know Martin yet but I'm looking forward to meeting him (Martin you sent me some info as an attachment to an email to this group and for reasons only Yahoo knows you have to send it to me directly at GeoffBatman@....

I now have the script divided up so we can actually shoot it.  The next step is building the props and sets.  Because of advances in technology (i.e. it's cheep), we will be filming much of the movie on green screen (called blue screen by some).  This means we build miniature sets and we can place full size actors on them. My understanding is ARMY OF DARKNESS was filmed much the same way. If building miniature sets  is something anyone would like to help with let me know (Any one know any model rail road hobbyists with free time?).

Anyone who wants to submit sketches for sets would also be greatly appreciated.

More next week,
Geoff

Hi Geoff, it's Colin on Saturday at noon.  I'm trying to get out of town, as I have a week off from work, before the snow completely seals us in! (I'm headed to NYC.)
Thank you so muich for this.  I'll read it more carefully soon.  Glad you hit the animal show for possible leds.    I feel neutral about the title change possibility; most people I spoke of it to seemed to think it was catchy, and not repulsive.  But maybe the zombie-alien concept is actually truer to the action.
Hey, did you order this weather!!!!
See you soon,   hello to the family, and if you see Janet, tell her hi for me, ok?
I'm feeling a lot better, and in about two more months, a lot of my current difficulties should be over.  I certainly appreciated your concern, and help, last fall, Geoff.
                      Cheers,   Colin

I'm still working on the schedule which is twice as big as BUCKYSTEIN.  The Schedule is so scary because once it is set, it is set in stone.  At this point I have it set for 10 days of shooting over the coarse of a year.  As many of you know from last time, most peoples commitment will be 1 day.

I have been working hard on the special effects this month.  I went to the model rail road convention at the Aliant Energy Center, to learn more about making miniatures.  I have made the decision to house the Submersibles, The WAL-I, and THE WALLEYE II in an underground cavern, because it will be easy to build and it fits the plot.

I have also located on the Internet and sent for 2 different sizes of miniature trash cans.  It looks like Bolt (the Weapons Dog) and Alby (the genius) will be fighting a clay-mation mushroom monster in a garage.  This action packed scene will feature a shoot out and the complete destruction of a garage on a Madison City street  (picture Bolt pulling the pin from a grenade with his mouth and tossing the grenade into the garage at the last possible moment).  Recent acquisitions at WYOU will allow us to mix live action and models.

Speaking of Bolt, the weapons dog, I was able to find a light brown dachshund puppet on eBay, but only one.  And as some of you know Bolt is a dog of action and will be featured in a multitude of stunts (like shooting a flame thrower).  It is important to have "Stunt Dogs."  In my search for more I found 3 dark brown ones in Australia.  They are some where on a ship headed our way.  Any one want to make any dog clothes?  Bolt needs an Army camo T-shirt and dog tags to ware under his civilian clothes for starters.  I can see him now? Bolt, tearing off his civilian clothes,  with a missile launcher on his shoulder, standing on the top of the WAL-I in nothing but his army T-Shirt, going head to head with a flying saucer.

In other news, I'm thinking of changing the name of the movie.  I have not scene the response I was looking for (Boy, I want to see that!).  I have also heard it referred to as "the toilet" move.  So none of this is decided but  BONES SKELETON: ZOMBIE VS. ALIENS sums up more of the adventure and less of the silliness.  Any opinions?

Fellow Movie masochists:
Not much time today (It's my birthday #46!), so I'm writing both my favorite groups at once and will say sorry up front, to those of you who get this twice!

WYOU is having an open house tomorrow (Feb. 3rd) from 3 to 7pm. They are located at 609 E. Washington Ave. here in beautiful Madison, WI.  Go in and thank them for all their help on BUCKYSTEIN.  Also let them show you the Blue screen, that is going to give BONES SKELETON unbelievable special effects (The ability to mix special effects miniatures and live action actors in the same shot!).

BONES SKELETON & THE TOILET OF TERROR!  is moving at light-speed lately.  Both BloodShot Productions, Inc. and WYOU are on board for this feature length Sci-Fi extravaganza!  Linda Friend who works all over the Madison Video Scene (Wis. Pub. TV, WYOU, Edgewood, to name some)  has taken a large interest and is gathering footage for a documentary on the making of.  Meany of you met her at the reading.

Linda introduced me to the video artists, Roger  Bindl  and Jackelyn Schultz Binhttp://www.hem.com/movies/rfb_promo1m.htmdle.  Not only are they highly creative people, but they are strong in the areas of Video and audio quality, securing legal rights and distribution.

They also talked me into attending the local Wisc-Kino showing (last Sunday) where I met a lot of up and coming movie makers.    Too many, to name really.  Though, I am really interested and getting Emilio Tozzi on board to do some stop motion for us.  He did an Alien encounter movie that is one of the funniest things I have ever scene.

I'll tell you about the other people I met next week. Also I am working hard on the shooting schedule.  Hope to see you at WYOU!

This week I will be working on the schedule.  I also can't name names but some very talented videographers are showing high interest in this project.  Nothings agreed to yet, but, I'M SO EXCITED!!

Happy 2007 everyone!  Well the holidays are over and I'm back at work on the BONES SKELETON MOVIE!  First I would like to do a reading of the script at my house on Saturday January 20Th at 4:00pm.  This is not a tryout, but an exercise to help me with the flow of the script.  Please let me know if you can make it.  This would be a great opportunity for past cast and crew as well as newcomers to join us on the ground floor. Also a good time to comment on the story.

The scheduling of this movie is slowly taking shape.  As some of you already know we are attempting to take what we learned in BUCKYSTEIN and make a feature length Sci-Fi movie of a much higher quality--Bigger and Better!

At this point my goal is to shoot for a couple of weekends a season for around a year, editing as we go.  The tentative outline looks like this:
SPRING 2007--All flashback scenes and the attack on the maintenance crew in the sewer.
SUMMER 2007--All miniature sub and flying saucer scenes.  Bones's opening scene in the grave yard.  Alby and Bolt vs.  the mushroom monster!
FALL 2007--All above ground scenes not yet filmed.
WINTER 2007-2008 Build Sub interior, Aliens, Alien world.
SPRING 2008 Shoot Bones/Alby/Bolt vs. Aliens

Most actors are involved for some rehearsals and one Saturday out of the year. The breaks in between allow us to gear up to a higher level of quality (And Family and Jobs and stuff).  BUCKYSTEIN took a year to edit, so it would take a year either way; weather we shot it all up front or shoot, edit, shoot, edit etc.

At this point I am proud to announce Janet "KJ" Kjelland back as EDITOR(she will need a staff, so don't count yourself out if you want to edit)! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

And Les Stephany is Back as ASSISTANT DIRECTOR! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

And Eric E.R. Allin has joined the SPECIAL EFFECTS crew.  YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION!

BONES SKELETON'S Second draft is done.  What this means is I get to put the script on the back burner and start moving closer to production.  I am still looking to do a read through sonetime during the end of the month.  This is also a great time to let me know what would be your dream job on this next movie.

Anyone who would like to read the next script, and give me feedback is also welcome.  The byline for BUCKYSTEIN was "The Most HORRIFYING Movie ever made!"  I was thinking for BONES SKELETON, "Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the sewer!"  But maybe there's a better one out there.  Ya' think?  Geoff

This month I have still been plugging along on the script for BONES SKELETON AND THE TOILET OF TERROR!  ACT I's introduces us to the main characters.  We learn that Bones Skeleton is a zombie with a broken a love of fine clothes, and a former magician.  We meet Alby, the genius inventor with a terrible secret.  And of coarse we meet Bolt:  a talking dog who is also a weapons expert!
ACT I also brings are characters together to man a submersible (left over from the cold war) and launch into the Madison sewers to stop an alien invasion!
In Act II our crew fights a giant galactic underwater monster and a flying saucer.  The submersible named "The Walleye" is destroyed!  Bolt dies and Alby is dieing.  Bones manages to get Alby to the hospital at the last minute using Badger cab.
In Act III, Alby's out of the hospital and together with Bones and the brand new Walleye II they leave to save Madison and seek revenge!

Talk soon, Geoff

Dear People who care,
With the BUCKYSTEIN project concluded,  I will be putting all my hobby talent into BONES SKELETON AND THE TOILET OF TERROR!  The first act is nearing completion as The zombie, Bones Skeleton has risen from the grave (after a hard night of partying!).  Alby, the genius inventor and his talking dog (a weapons expert!),  fight a mutated mushroom in a garbage can!  Everyone gets a call to meet down at the Madison Sewer Treatment plant  to solve the mystery of three attacked workers in an unmapped section of sewer beneath the city!

With information gathered from one surviving crew member and a piece of something not quit human attached to accident debris, the three SUPERNATURAL REFUSE INVESTIGATORS enter the sewer in a special craft left over from the cold war, code named: WALLEYE!

More soon I promise!

Dear People'
The writing of BONES SKELETON AND THE TOILET OF TERROR! is coming along further this month.  Last month we talked about the character "Bones Skeleton", and this time around I would like to talk about the character "Bolt."
Bolt is a talking  Dog.  He is part of a split personality of the character, Alby and is played by a dachshund hand puppet on his left hand.  Alby is a shy genius inventor who suffered a terrible blow in his childhood that split his personality into 2 distinct personalities.  One of those is the character, Bolt.  Bolt is a tough as nails weapons expert who never backs down.  He is a black belt in hand to hand combat and is an expert on a myriad of high tech weapons.  The most important thing to remember about , Bolt, is: Never, I mean never, call him a wiener Dog!  Heaven help you if you do.
In other news, the special effect books keep coming in the mail and I'm finalizing the concept of the super submarine I need to build for the movie.  It's called "The Walleye".

Thanks for listening,

Welcome Nate, Scott, Scott, Sherrie, Roasted, and Aurelie to my new yahoo group for my next film, BONES SKELETON AND THE TOILET OF TERROR!
The script is still being written so anything I share might get revised out in the future, but I would like to share with you a little about the main character, Bones Skeleton.
Bones Skeleton is a Zombie/Skeleton who used to be a magician in vaudeville and at this point I don't know if we ever find out why he is walking around.  Bones is obnoxious, drinks to much, and at times a cantankerous old man.  He works for the Department of Public Works, in Madison, investigating strange garbage (like X-Files).  Due to an alien invasion that starts in the Madison sewers, Bones Skeleton and his crew are forced to board an experimental craft, shrink down, and flush out the aliens in the sewer (Like Star Trek or Fantastic Voyage--only grosser!).
It's mostly an excuse for me to make a sci-fi film with little ships and build a space (sub?)ship set.

Thanks again, Geoff

PS If you know someone who likes to draw and would like to do some concept drawings, let me know.
