This is the the Avid-L mailing list. The primary purpose of this list is to provide a discussion forum for issues surrounding Avid products, and those who edit with them. While we talk about Avid products, Avid the company and Avid's policies, this list is managed and owned by customers of Avid, not Avid Technology Inc.

Policies
Despite what email address or handle you use, you should register as a Yahoo user to participate in the Avid-L2. Subscribers should set up an account with their first and last names, then send the request to join. This is a Moderated list, and all subscription requests will be reviewed by the moderator(s). If you have a Yahoo account already that you would like to use, but doesn’t contain your first and last names, please include your first and last name in the subscription request to the moderator when you request to join, so the moderators know who you are

Off Topic Filtering. Part of the interest of the Avid-L2 is it's range

Or let Encore do the encoding itself? Works well for Blu-ray authoring for us (though I will be trying to set up a Compressor and 48-core QMaster cluster soon

This really isn't about the perceived value of an editor at all. Unfortunately this is all too typical of a lot of the stuff floating around related to the RED

Have you tried Adobe Media Encoder, which ships with CS3 and CS4? It makes nice looking MPEG2 files. Even if you don't use it, it would be worth a test to see
