Atomic Shock Theatre returns to the great outdoors next week, just
blocks outside the Minneapolis City limits. The recent cancellation
of the group's summer movie series outside the Grainbelt Brewery by
city officials has received national attention. The MCDA's decision
to ban future shows has been covered extensively by the local media,
as well as websites such as Harry Knowles' "Ain't It Cool News".
Friends and supporters can meet the members of Atomic Shock Theater
in person at 9:30pm, Friday, July 27th, 2001, in the parking lot of
the Historic Heights Theater, 3951 Central Ave. Northeast, Columbia
Heights, Minnesota. The "Atomic Shock Theater Good Behavior Block
Party" will Feature Comedy and prize giveaways, follwoed by a short
film program at dusk.
One night later, Saturday 28, 2001, Atomic Shock Theatre will join
the Heights Theater to present a special midnight showing of "Vampire
Hookers", the film ordered cancelled by the Minneapolis Community
Development Agency on July 14th. The city of Minneapolis erected
barricades and police warnings ourside the Grainbelt complex to
prevent the public from attending the show, which was part of the
Atomic Shock Theatre's "Guerilla Drive-In" series.
The film will be shown indoors at the Heights Theater, 3951 Central
Ave. Northeast, at midnight. There will be one show only. Admission
is $6. Those bringing in the flyer handed out at the cancelled
Grainbelt show will received one dollar off admission.
