I see someone didn't watch the episode commentaries/"Greed Kills". I think
it was mentioned during both the "Forgiving" commentary, and the "Greed
Kills" extra, that Joanne would have gone BOOM! and that Jim would have
gotten a phone call from a guy with an Irish accent, that it was done, and
that the IRA had done it.
Even if it had been renewed, "Forgiving" would have been the last episode of
the first season. They knew it was going to be the last episode made
though, so they tried to make it so that it felt like some of it was
resolved.
Let's see, other tidbits I remember... if there'd been a 2nd season, they
wanted to open it with Chaz exercising, and having a heart attack (really,
it would have been poison, and administered by Profit), and they'd've wanted
someone like James Coburn, to play Chaz's and Pete's father... and would
have killed him off, I think in the same episode (Chaz would have thought
that his own father had poisoned him). Profit would have steered Pete
towards politics.
