Re: Talking Profit

Hi, all.

I had that problem. I taped it when FOX ran the pilot, and faithfully taped
and watched the three episodes afterwards. Even watching the DVDs, I'm so
sad and ticked off that there aren't more episodes, I would have loved for
this series to have lasted at least four, five, six years.

I'd also love to know when the decisions were made, that Scott Paulin's
character and Jennifer Hetrick's (Jack Walters and his wife, Elizabeth)
would only be in one episode after the pilot, and Keith Szarabajka's
character would be a regular (okay, now that was a great decision in my not
so humble opinion, but I'm a huge fan <g>).

Heh. Did you listen to the commentary in the pilot, when it mentioned all
the guys tried to outdo each other? I loved it when Adrian said, (about
Keith) that he realized his [Keith] voice really *was* that cool (having
listened to all the audiobooks K.S. has done, yes, I would be entertained if
I just watched and heard him read the telephone book).

Adrian - loved his performance. Watched a bit of "Mysterious Ways" (for
anyone in Canada, Vision TV is running it at 4:00 p.m. Eastern) today, and
I'm very glad not to feel scared or sense any evil or psychopathy from
Declan. <g> He was chilling in "Profit", and mesmerizing. I'd be willing
to suspend disbelief and have the series pick up where it left off, on some
cable station and released on DVDs, to get more.

Lisa Zane - I thought she was great as Security Chief and bulldog Joanne
Meltzer. Sucks that her character would have been killed off, if there'd
been a second season, right after the last time we saw her in the last
episode.

Keith Szarabajka - The man has a way with zingers, snarky lines, dark
humour. Even if he's only in it a few minutes, he can really leave a major
impression. Two of my favourite bits: letting out Pete's secret (and
Pete's reaction), and then when the friend of Chaz's and Pete's father
leaves, he says "The day he gets hit by a bus, *I* believe in God."

Jack Gwaltney - Wonderful performance of younger, screw-up and screwed up,
brother. Very expressive face, loved it when he pretended to be drunk but
was really drinking iced tea instead of scotch. I would have loved to have
seen more with Pete.

Lisa Darr - I think Gail would have had a huge ulcer in less than a year.
<g> She did nervous and jittery very well. I thought she was fantastic in
"Chinese Box" and yet again, another character had the chance to do the
right thing and didn't.

Allison Hossack - Nora looked angelic, but wasn't. See above comment about
Gail, having the chance to do the right thing, but didn't. I can totally
understand why she did (re: her uncle, who was allergic to strawberries,
and died because 911 wasn't called quickly enough) what she did, "I forgive
you" but she couldn't bring herself to phone for help for him.

Lisa Blount - Bobbi was evil incarnate. <shiver>

Sherman Augustus - loved the introduction of Jeffrey Sykes, loved his
battles with Jim Profit, and I thought the actor was very, very good.

I thought it was "Cupid" but that could also have been it.

You're right, I haven't watched the 'extras' yet. Been saving them for a rainy day - I just keep watching the episodes. But that is AWESOME, what you said....
