'FNL' Season 4 Spoilers
July 1, 2009
For some, "Friday Night Lights" may be about the football, but for most - including star Connie Britton - the end-game is in the relationships.
Britton, who shines as Coach's wife and Dillon High principal Tami Taylor, has been dropping bombs for the last couple weeks about what to expect when football season kicks off next Spring.
According to Britton, fans should expect a few break-ups. After the jump, were breaking it down, couple-by-couple to tell you what she said to E! here and what it most likely means for the Taylors, Julie and Matt and Lyla and Riggins.
Tami & Eric:
What Britton says:"It's very hard to even grasp what it
means--this whole new school that needs all this help that Coach is
going to be going to, with redistricting and all that. I think it's
going to be more [about] us trying to figure out what our new roles are
in these places than it's going to be us at odds with each other. Maybe
we'll find a way to come together and help each other with our
competitive schools."
What it means: Don't worry. Even though Britton says there will be a few bumps in the road for her and Eric (Kyle Chandler), the star has been quoted in the past saying that no bump will be big enough to derail TV's most-solid marriage.
Julie & Matt:
What Britton says:"At the end of last season it wasn't like
[Matt] was going to be gone." But when pressed about Matt's Zach
Gilford only returning for a few episodes, Britton agrees that it seems
tough he and Julie (Aimee Teergarden) will last. "Exactly!" exclaimed
Connie. "I don't know how that's going to sort itself out."
What it means: Worry. Britton also says that good girl Julie may return to her wild ways. If so, her long-distance relationship with Matt will get old, and fast.
Lyla & Riggins:
What Britton says:"Riggins is going to have to move on. The
reality of the situation is he's in Dillon; he's never going to leave
Dillon probably, and she is. She has a whole future, and I think it
would be really interesting to see what that does to him. Maybe she'll
come back and do some episodes, and we'll see where she's gone off to
and see the difference between the girl who gets out and the guy who
doesn't. Those old high school relationships where you think [you're]
going to be forever together and then you've got your whole life ahead
of you and everything changes."
What it means: Really worry. Lyla and Riggins are the perfect metaphor for what the show is all about - small-town Dillon vs. the rest of the world. As for the sizzling starlet who plays Lyla, we worry Minka Kelly is simply too hot to stay on a Friday night TV show - even if it may be the best on the tube. Kelly already landed a role in the still up-in-the-air but critically approved CW pilot "Body Politic," and were sure there's more where that came from. As for the equally hot Taylor Kitsch, who plays Riggins, looks like he has mastered the art of multi-tasking -- the actor, who signed on for "FNL" season 4, recently graced the big-screen in "Wovlerine" as Gambit.
