New Festival That Honors Do-It-Yourself
Innovation
in Storytelling and Cinematography
HOLLYWOOD -- The DIY Film Festival has begun accepting submissions
for its two-day February celebration of cutting-edge filmmaking.
Dramatic, documentary and comedy films made after Jan. 1,
2000 and shot in DV, Beta, HDTV, 16mm or 35mm will be considered. All
entries must be created using commonly-available tools of independent
filmmaking without financing from a major film studio or corporate
backer. In addition to the genre categories, the DIYFF will also
honor the best DIY director and best DIY screenplay.
Filmmakers can enter the competition online at
www.DIYFilmFestival.com. More information is available by e-mailing
DIYConvention@...
The DIYFF will be held Friday, February 8, 2002 at the
Renberg Theater in Hollywood and Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002 at the
Wyndham Bel Age Hotel in West Hollywood as part of the DIY
Convention: Do It Yourself in Film, Music & Books.
The DIY Convention is a one-day seminar that teaches
aspiring musicians, directors, authors and entrepreneurs how to
create, promote, protect and distribute independent film, music and
books. Registrants to the convention will attend a comprehensive
series of panels, exhibits and workshops that feature top artists and
executives revealing the secrets of Do-It-Yourself success.
DIYFF entries will be judged by a panel of industry experts
using the following criteria:
1) The filmmaker's passion for telling a good story;
and
2) The unique use of DIY resources to create a compelling
film experience.
