Hi, this is Tom Lassu - I am a writer/director with European
influences - I was born and raised in Hungary. We have several
actors, a kick-ass composer, and a special-effect make-up person on
board.

Our fierce team needs a versatile, non-cliche-sequences oriented
Editor and a sound person with a boom pole and mixer to complement
our strengths. Meaningful cinematographical experiments are likely
to be on the menu for us to choose from.

I believe that the right editor has a sophisticated eye for visual
possibilities that the director and DP may not be always fully aware
of, thus the Editor should be on the set to suggest sequences and to
nip post production problems in the bud.

Kurosawa used to edit daily footage after the wrap every night,
fresh out of the cartridge. Because of the compressed time frame
availabe, I anticipate the editor hanging out behind the Director
and the DP, exchange some words, watch the shooting and prompt the
DP every hour and half to: "give it to me man, I have an idea, I can
do it in 30 minutes right now, hurry up!"

Most likely we will use my house in Fairview, NJ (30 mins from
Manhattan) as the production center, and probably some nearby
locations. You can count on better than average food, and a result-
oriented atmosphere that balances having fun with making a good
film. The emphasis will be on work, but if we do it right it should
feel like play.

I am looking forward to speak to you,

Tom Lassu

Hi all--

I think I can answer that one. ;>

I was already living in Boston when I ran the 48 Hour Film Project in New
York last year. I've been here since 2001. Before that I was living in
Brooklyn.

Your new Local Producer, Christina Ruppert, basically co-produced the New
York 48HFP last year, although she didn't really get proper credit for it.
So you'll all be in very capable hands this year. Also, I hope to come
down for some of the NYC 48HFP, although that will depend on my Boston
schedule.

And yes, Christina is related to Mark--she's Mark's sister.

Your search for the ultimate acting experience ends
here!

Audition for team THE ONE:11TH featuring Justin
Shannahan, Executive Producer of "theINDEgroup" and
"+hiphop", as we embark on our 2nd year into the 48
Hour Film Festival Boston!

The premise behind the 48 Hour Film Festival is...
Film-making teams have just one weekend to make a
short film. All creativity, writing, shooting,
editing, and adding a musical soundtrack, must occur
in a 48 hour window beginning Friday evening at 7pm
and ending Sunday at 7pm. The following week, the
completed films are screened to an eager audience. How
cool is that? If selected, you not only get to see
yourself on the big screen one week later, but you
also get a copy of the completed short film to keep
for your reel! All cast and crew members must be
volunteer, so there is no compensation available. This
is a GREAT opportunity to meet other industry
professionals! What better way to network your way
onto other productions, than at an actual movie set...
so don't miss out! As a side note, there are over 25
cities involved in this years 48 Hour Film Festival...
even in Paris! The best of each city is eligible to
enter in an all around best competition later this
year!

The competition takes place from April 7th through the
9th, with screenings at the Kendall Square Cinema on
the 11th, the 12th, the 18th, and the 19th. Basically,
all cast and crew members will be ON CALL the night of
April 7th, you will then be given information late
that evening as to where the 1st location will occur
the following morning. All shooting will take place on
April 8th, so you will need to be available for the
entirety of that day, NO EXCEPTIONS. Now as with any
movie production, time is subject to begin during the
early wee hours of the morning and run late into the
evening... so only SERIOUS actors/actress need apply!

If this sounds like your ideal kind of oppurtunity,
then please feel free to contact me at
Janelle@... or via phone at
(646)327-3291. Also, if you know anybody else that may
be interested in auditioning, then please forward this
email to them as well. Peace and GOD speak :)

Audience Awards are in! They are as follows:

Information about whether there will be a Best Of show will be coming

Great jobs, everyone! And congratulations to Ben and Christina. Hope
y'all had lots of fun over the weekend and at the screenings as did we
who were involved with Homecoming (which screened the second night).

Tho I got a chance to meet quite a few of you Weds. and Thurs. nites,
just in case there was anyone I missed who might be casting, let not
one opportunity for networking go untapped (eh?). Below is a link for
a web page where you can access my stills, jazz vocals, headshots,
etc. If you should be casting for a middle-aged or older female and/or
need vocals for your soundtrack, please give me a shout and if there's
any other way I can be of help, please let me know.

If not, see y'all next time.

Best,

Elli

I'm a producer for a group in the San Francisco 48HFP. One of the
organizers (Ben
Guaraldi) recommended I post this question here as some of you
secured production
insurance for your shoot.

Where did you secure such insurance and how much did it cost?

I am a member of AIVF and have a contact list of brokers in my area,
but hoped I could
benefit from some of your experiences regarding this subject. Thanks!

The A group screening was just great! Lots of really fine work up
there! See you all tonight!

Also, if anyone wants to keep making fast films, I'm in a group called
Quickflicks (www.quickflicks.org), which is associated with an
LA-based group called Group 101 (www.group101films.com) in which
members make a film every month. The New York group will be accepting
new members in the fall, exact details still being worked out. Drop me
an email if you're interested at 212.212 (at) usa.com.

Hi Maria--

On Friday, July 8th, twenty-six teams from New York received a
character, prop, line of dialogue, and a genre. They had 48 hours to
make a film. Yesterday (Sunday, July 10th), they dropped off the
films. Tomorrow and Wednesday--7/12 and 7/13--we are screening the
films at Anthology Film Archives at 7pm and 9:30pm.

Does that help?

Hi Diane--

I didn't get this message until just now. Sorry about that.

Feel free to come to the Wrap Party, though...
