Regardless of where you are, this is your opportunity to write, shoot, and edit a short film in three days. Just like in the 48 Hour Film Project, you'll receive a character, prop, line of dialogue, and a genre at 7pm local time, October 24th. Then you'll have to mail the film in on October 27th. In the following weeks the top films (determined by a national panel of judges) will be available for viewing (and voting!) on the NFC website. The winning films will screen with the 48 Hour Film Project City Winners at the next FIlmapalooza, the 48 Hour Film Project's end of year event. In addition there are cash prizes for the winning films!
SO WHO PARTICIPATES IN THE NATIONAL FILM CHALLENGE?
--48HFP Filmmakers who have a need for speed and want to make another film before the 48HFP returns to your city in 2009. --Filmmakers who either missed your city's 48HFP or who did not register in time to make your city's team limit.
--Filmmakers who live in cities that do not have a 48HFP yet. (Please forward this to your friends and relatives who might be in this dire situation!)
HOW DO I SIGN UP MY TEAM?
Registration is now open on our website. The number of teams is limited to 300 and registration is on a first come first served basis. The Early Bird Entry Fee is $110 if you register on or before September 30, 2008 and $125 if you register between October 1, 2008 and October 23, 2008. Teams can be anywhere from 1 person to 30 or more people. Read all of the rules of the contest here:

Visa Presents The New York 48 Hour Film Project 2007
Filmmaking teams from throughout the New York area successfully completed a wild weekend of fast and furious filmmaking. Filmmakers drew their genres from a hat on Friday night June 15 and we're given a prop, a character and a line of dialog to incorporate into their film. Completed films were due on Sunday, June 17. The last few minutes before the deadline saw filmmakers, operating on little sleep and lots of adrenaline, rushing to get their films in on time and it was awesome!
All of the films that were submitted on Sunday night will screen this week. Come see what tri-state area filmmakers can do!

Enter today! Space is limited.

In addition to the Best Film of New York competing for the title "Best 48 Hour Film of 2007," the Top 10 teams from New York will compete against the Top 10 teams from Los Angeles and San Francisco in the Visa "Life Takes" Invitational.
This special competition will take place in September. The top 10 teams in each city will receive:
* $500 Visa Prepaid Card for production expenses. * Invitation to the Awards Ceremony in San Francisco hosted by Visa for all Finalists from the 3 cities and their guests.
* Travel expenses to San Francisco for two guests.
And, finally...the Grand Prize winner will receive...
Entry is first come, first served, so check out the website and enter today! For more information email, your New York Producer (me!) Mica Scalin at NewYork@...
I'm a 48 Hour film veteran and have continued to produce movies since
last year's competition. I'm showing one of my films Saturday, May
12th, in a theatre downtown and looking for other film-makers to do the
same. If you or someone you know is a film-maker that wants to premiere
their film in a bona fide theatre, I'm organizing a mini-fim
festival ... title of the festival TBA. I'm trying to find between 5 -
10 film-makers that want to premiere their projects with mine to split
the cost of a theatre rental in New York. Looking for films between 5 -
15 minutes. After the movies are screened, we'll have a Q&A with all
the film-makers and the audience.
If interested, please email Chuck at: chuck.hadad@...

I know this is last minute but I'm looking to join a crew in NYC. I
have a lot of experience as a photographer and some as a video
cameraman. I did the 48hr project in DC last year and have filmed
some other small projects. If you need a main/second/b cameraman let
me know. Also willing to do other tasks if you need general help.

Hey 48HFP Teams!
Our timeslot is close to last - which could be cool, except our composer can't
make it. We are
Salt Shaker Pictures and currently our slot is at 9:30 in Group D on Thursday.
We would love
to trade with a Weds. night screening. Please shoot me an email if you would
like to trade.
Thanks, Lisa
Hey all,
My team is scheduled in Group D (which plays on Thursday). Is there anyone in
Groups A or
B (which play on Wednesday) that are interesting in switching to a Thrusday play
time? Let
me know if interested.
Thanks!!
Mike
I'm an actress. 25 years old. Can send resume / headshot. Would love
