48 Hour Filmmakers, Get Ready! Are you up for another challenge?

On October 1-4, 2004, filmmakers across the country will compete to see who can
make the best short film in a weekend.

The National Film Challenge is the latest cool filmmaking competition from the
creators of the 48 Hour Film Project. Teams have just one weekend to write,
shoot and edit a short film or video. Thousands of people in select cities
across the US have made 48 Hour Film films. Now, the National Film Challenge
extends the competition to filmmakers across the nation.

It all takes place the weekend of October 1-4, 2004. The basic rules are quite
simple. First, register your team by going to our website www.filmchallenge.com.
Then you line up gear, cast and crew. At 7 p.m. on Friday, October 1, you will
receive an e-mail giving you a randomly generated genre, and a character, prop
and line of dialogue that must appear in your film. Then you have from Friday at
7 p.m. through Monday, to create a short film. All creativity must occur within
the competition period: writing, shooting, editing and adding your sound track.
Get your film to the post office or FedEx by Monday, October 4, and you're in
the competition! And here's the most important thing - you'll have completed a
film!

Every film completed within the Film Challenge rules, and within the competition
periods, will be eligible for prizes and judging. The Best Films will receive
theatrical screenings, release on a DVD and possible television exposure.
Participation in the Film Challenge is a rite of passage for today's filmmakers.
