Don't have team, yet. Probably have to find teammates on the playa. I'd
love to direct/edit a film. And/or could shoot, run sound, grip. I have a
small Sony DV cam, and an ok wireless mic. Probably would need something a
little better(?). Might have a laptop with final cut, or might need one.
Need team: actors, shooter, sound person, etc.

As above, I'd like to direct/edit a film. And/or could shoot, run sound,
grip. I have a small Sony DV cam, and an ok wireless mic. Probably would
need something a little better(?). Might have a laptop with final cut, or

Don't know how to rent/borrow equipment for the playa because it's so
dangerous for the stuff out there. The only way I can see getting stuff is
by having people bring their own and assume their own risks.
Protecting equipment - keep everything in plastic bags. Figure out how to
make a hole for the lens. Get underwater housing for bigger cameras.
Finding cast and crew on the playa - hmm. I think actors could be found by
asking people and theme camps if they'd like to be in a movie. Crew, I'm
not sure. Perhaps there is a bulletin board for media folks. I think the
best way to find both would be to have something listed in the events
calendar for Monday, Tues, Wed at a recurring time that describes what the
project is and inviting all interested parties to come to your camp. You
know, like "48 Hours of sub/un/conscious filmmaking!! Explore your mind in
film. Let your superego rule, your id run rampant. If you've ever wanted
to 'act out' your dreams, nightmares, fears and share them with your friends
at BM this is the place and time. Calling all actors, writers, camerapeople,
soundpeople, editors, grips. Be part of the 1st 48 Hour Film Festival of
the mind and playa. Films will be screened Thursday night...

Advice. People will flake. Everyone will have a different idea.
Conditions will be tough. It seems to me the simpler the ideas the more
likely they'll be accomplished. Don't know exactly what that means. That
is, is it better to have a short play or something ready to go and just cast
for that, or to spontaneously come up with something? Perhaps the best
would be to find a group of actors who have something they're already
playing around with and develop that. It would also be cool to scout art
that would become the 'sets' and build the scenes around those. The coolest
of all would be a combination of reality - real people and events - and some
sort of 'scripted' story.
To me, the most exciting aspect of this project is the possibility of using
film/video to participate in BM. This is my third burn and, since I work in
tv (doc producer), I've always wondered what to do with that skill. I
haven't felt that making a documentary would be right because it seems like
it would take me too much out of the now of the event, capturing it for
later use. But this project, rather than making something to look at after
the fact, is a chance to be in BM, interpreting the theme of
sub/un/consciousness, incorporating the actual event, and sharing that
interpretation with others, and maybe helping them be even more in the event
in the process! Wouldn't be easy, but could be pretty fun!
